Huge thanks to Liberia Positives on instagram for helping with this video. (Check them out! @libpositives) I honestly think I might consider going here. No joke. I might have to raise money by doing some more sponsorships and merch sales but it might be worth #LIBERIA

So technically Britain is Liberia's grandmother?

Fact about Liberia: They love the US. In the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Liberia offered to send it's 3, 000 soldier army to help. The US thanked them for the offer, but turned it down.

“Only African country to be colonized by African-Americans” Liberia is a special place!

'In Liberia, the official language is English but only about 1/5 of the country speaks it properly" so basically...it's just like America

Fun Fact: Liberia's current president George Weah is a former professional footballer, playing for clubs like Monaco, PSG, Manchester City, Chelsea, and AC Milan.

My mum is half Liberian and my dad Ghanaian. They met, married and had us in Liberia, but the war drove us to Ghana/UK. Its funny my parents always say "those days..." Liberia was good. They were working and earning US dollars and living so well. The war destroyed everything they'd built, but my mum still goes back regularly

America in Africa. Just came here after watching Drew Binsky’s video on his trip to Liberia. Interesting to look through the history of Liberia and how it was first formed by the United States.

America should do more to establish closer ties to Liberia. Doesn't get the attention it should

I grew up around a bunch of Liberian refugees in the 90s, and one of the cultural things that I picked up from them is the snap-handshake thing. That is, when they shake hands, they snap their fingers, but it's a shared snap. You apply pressure with your middle finger against the other person's middle finger during the shake, so when you pull back it makes a snap. If you can do it, it's a fun way to show off cultural competency to other Liberians.

I've been waiting for this episode for a time. I've always been interested in Liberia and I feel more Americans should be aware of the historic ties between the two countries and should acknowledge Liberians as kin.
