Insurance prices in the UK genuinely shock me. I live in Czech Republic and when I got my first car (2019 Ford Focus), my insurance was about 1000 EUR/year for Full Comp with zero experience at 23 y.o.. Almost 10k GBP for an old Vauxhall is insane

I just applied for my first years insurance on a 2014 Fiesta Ecoboost. I'm 28 and currently living up north, but I was originally due to move to London this month. My friend put in a quote for me a few months ago, for South London, in a relatively nice and quiet residential area I was looking at moving to, and got quoted about £4500

Up in Liverpool, Mum as a named driver, 5000 miles a year (might need to up that...), 21 days in the future, full comp, excess £850 - managed to get it down to £1500, which is honestly about the maximum I would ever want to pay. Imagine saving £400 a month to go towards car insurance on top of the cost of rent, bills,

I picked an excellent time to finally pass my test lol

Incognito mode doesn't work anymore. What you need to do now, is get some quotes on your computer/tablet using fake details at an address very close by. Once you've found the car that you want, you want to then get on your phone get off the wifi and use you data and get an insurance quote with your real details.

I tried the whole icognito mode not that long ago and after a while, insurance quotes I was getting was more than double what they originally were. Switching to my phone on data instead of wifi gave me the original quotes back.

Choosing an unusual car is a huge one. I've just inusred my first car - an 06 MX5 Mk3 2.0L. Paying around £800. If i were to choose a bog standard fiesta it would be double.

I am 27 though and living up north, so this will have quite an impact on the price but the advice still stands !

Great vid, was very happy to find a 0.8L Chevrolet Matiz for only £2k with insurance only being £1.1k in my first year, felt like I got let off lightly compared to the eye watering sums my friends had to pay in their first year

I'm really baffled ATM. I passed my test in mid Jan this year (was 19, now 20), drove an aygo for a month or so paying £130 a month, and then swapped it for a 2003 2.2 petrol bmw. £110 a month with a box.

I'm looking for a more practical car now, diesel. My coworker is selling a 2.0 tdci focus for £500 so can't pass it up, but I'm now being quoted £200 a month. Current provider won't even insure the car due to something with the underwriters. Totally lost 😭

As a viewer from Ireland (just across the little sea from you!) I can confirm Ireland has the same problem, and it‘s definitely getting worse too it seems

Parking car on street as oppose to parkd on drive reduces it too. This is to do with theft - theives know where keys are when parked on a drive.. crazy i know but works haha

also does anyone recommend buying import cars, either from japan or from here, is the insurance cheaper, i found two import companies with youtube channels but no British people have made videos reviewing them, also i checked toyota japan and vietnam, brand new car is 12 grand, really tempting, but this is all my savings, so i don't wanna get scammed, btw i found a lot of people in south africa have made videos about importing from japan,
any advice is highly appreciated everyone thanks

Another tip I learnt from a colleague is that these sites potentially get a commission or percentage. Many times, calling up to the insurer directly, can get you a cheaper quote!

Since the insurance won't have to pay the site for the referral commission or whatever.

Not a salesman myself but you get the gist
