The history of coffee in the Western world is actually really interesting. There WERE countries that tried to ban it and viewed it as an illicit pleasure, but eventually the caffeine won.

My silver lining to the COVID-19 pandemic was that I went from being a twice-a-day Starbucks devotee to an occasional coffee drinker. I still like coffee, but I see no need to spend $6 a cup for it.
