You know *instantly* if you pour the water from a kettle and you forgot to actually boil it. It just doesn't *sound* right.

The next Slipknot album is just going to be ambient water noises now...

I think She's a great replacement, also Corey weirdly fit into the show nicely, expected him to be out of his comfort zone a bit but he looked like he was loving it.

I think the speed of sound through the liquid also affects the pitch, resulting in a higher pitch for hot liquids where sound travels faster. What I want to know is why the pitch continued to rise while the water was being poured for the hot water, while it descended as the cold water was poured. I would intuitively think that both should descend since the size of the resonator (i.e. the water level) is increasing, which should give a longer wavelength and, in turn, a lower pitch.

Sandi took over, eh?

Ah well. She was always one of my favourite panelists. Good choice.

I didn't even realize that was Corey Taylor until the end.

The second one has a lower pitch rising to a higher pitch, hot water has a more fizzy tone

It must be so ingrained, I've never given it a moment's thought*. I said 'hot' before the first playback of cold, then thought, 'Ooh, I should have waited for the next one', but it just confirmed that I'd made the correct decision.

*It might also be that I'm incurious.

I do really like her but it's really going to take some getting used to it not being Stephen.

I feel like it has something to do with her also saying “hot and cold” so you expect hot first. If the first one had been cold I feel like less people would of gotten it correct.
