All these people in the comments saying that Kirk shouldn't have messed with Spock obviously haven't seen the movie and as such shouldn't comment on something they know NOTHING about. Kirk was INTENTIONALLY trying to goad Spock into attacking him on the advice of none other than future Spock himself. If you can't be bothered to watch the movie, then you have no basis for commenting on it at all.
