The first chapter of Kevin Costner's 'Horizon: An American Saga' is headed to streaming sooner than you might think. 'Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1' will hit the streaming service Max on August 23rd. The film was released in theaters back in June, but disappointed at the box office, opening to just $11 million. The release of 'Horizon: Chapter 2' was then put on hold in order to give audiences the opportunity to discover the first installment on Premium VOD and Max. (Chapter 2 was previously supposed to hit theaters on August 16th before being pulled from the calendar.)

As someone who saw Horizon 1 in theaters and enjoyed it, I wish they would’ve kept the August release date for 2.

You have to admire the passion of KC putting so much of his $ & time & energy into this project.. regardless of how much it makes him back

Kevin is a far better actor than director, writer and producer. If he invested 40 million, that money is gone.

Westerns just aren’t box office anymore. In fact they’ve not been since 1977.
Kevin just doesn’t get that cowboys aren’t cool anymore.

To all those who have been poo-pooing Kevin Costner. Shame on you. This man had a vision and a passion that he put his heart and soul and money 💰 behind. And that is still worth something. I think they should have stuck with the 2nd Chapter release date to get a better look at his vision of Horizon. If then it wasn't clear, they consider a later release. It takes courage to put your vision out into the world, not knowing if others are going to see what you do. And Yellowstone and it's predecessors have done really well, so Cowboys are still very much cool and always will be. However, I did struggle with it. The volume was too high for the size of the theatre. The audience was either captivated or working hard to process due to the speed of all that was going on. I never experienced a speechless audience after the film. But I would pay to see the whole series (the full four chapters) to support Kevin's dream because it came from a place of purity. He is not afraid to take risks, and we need more of that. I am sure the second chapter will bring the story together... and if not, well, already 2 in might as well see it all the way through to the 4th Chapter. 🤷🙂
