This Summer the American Saga begins. Horizon: An American Saga - Only in Theaters June 28 #Horizonamericansaga

Academy Award-winning visionary filmmaker Kevin Costner directs New Line Cinema’s vast “Horizon: An American Saga” Chapters One and Two, a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. A story of America too big for one film, this true
cinematic event also stars Costner, who co-writes with Jon Baird (“The Explorers Guild”) and produces through his Territory Pictures.

In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, “Horizon: An American Saga” explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.

Costner stars alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Ella Hunt, Tim Guinee, Danny Huston, Colin Cunningham, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Georgia MacPhail, Douglas Smith, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alejandro Edda, Wasé Winyan Chief, Michael Anganaro, Angus Macfadyen, Jon Beavers, Alex Nibley, Kathleen Quinlan, Etienne Kellici, Amos Jason Charging Cloud, Bodhi Okuma Linton, Gregory Cruz, James Russo, Jeff Fahey, David O’Hara, Chris Conner, Leroy M. Silva, Bernardo Velasco, Tom Everett, Glynn Turman, Giovanni Ribisi and more.

Costner returns to directing for the first time since his 2003 critically acclaimed hit “Open Range,” and revisits Civil War-era America, the setting for his 1990 blockbuster and directorial debut, “Dances with Wolves,” which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. He produces alongside Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard, with Danny Peykoff, Robert Scannell, Armyan Bernstein, Charlie Lyons, Barry Berg and Rod Lake executive producing.

Costner is joined behind the camera by director of photography J. Michael Muro (“Billionaire Boys Club,” “Parker”), production designer Derek R. Hill (“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” “The Magnificent Seven”), editor Miklos Wright (“For All Mankind,” “Open Range”) and costume designer Lisa Lovaas (“Ambulance,” “Transformers: The Last Knight”). The music is by Oscar nominee John Debney (“The Passion of the Christ,” “The Greatest Showman”).

A New Line Cinema presentation of a Territory Pictures production, “Horizon: An American Saga” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The films will be released in theaters nationwide, the first on June 28, 2024, the second on August 16, 2024.

My grandpa who recently passed away (Duane Scoville) is seen as (Bill) in the scene of him portraying
a drunken man on a bench outside of the saloon/bar. He would’ve loved to him himself in this movie considering we all didn’t know if he made the scene or not. Your legacy lives forever with all of us Poppy. I love you❤️

it's shot like a 70's movie. No explanations, no over explained story, no hand holding the audience. Alot of converging stories without telling you how to think about it. It's refreshing in ways.

Kevin Costner truly is a legend in the Western genre, and this movie looks like it's going to be another masterpiece. Can't wait to see it on the big screen!

This looks absolutely insane. The fact that Kevin backed this with his own money is legendary.

I already love it for using a traditional cinematography, instead of the modern dark, Netflix type, with the same color grading as all the mass produced movies and shows

In the late 80's, Kevin ran into difficulty securing the financing for Dances with Wolves and several movie studios rejected the project along the way. He was told then the Western genre was dead and the film too long. Not one to be deterred by the naysayers, he pushed forward to put it all together. The end result was a picture that won 7 Academy awards, grossed over $400 million worldwide (1990 dollars) and was named by critics as one of the best films of that year. As history shows, this is an actor/director who has the guts to forge his own path. Hats off to you, Mr. Costner, for taking another gamble with this latest Western. I for one hope this upcoming film will have a scene reminiscent of the buffalo hunt with the Lakota from Dances with Wolves (epic).

This has that timeless filmic quality that is sorely missing too often from the silver screen nowadays. It feels like it could have come out in the 80s, 90s or 00s and I love it.

I don't know if Mr Costner will ever see this, but my God, this is a beautiful film.

The art of cinema is indeed dead, but not the art of storytelling.

Kevin, this is an absolute masterpiece.

Thank you so much for this. Free Range has always been a top 5 Western for me. This is going to compete with the best. Thanks again. JF

Not really a Western fan, but I appreciate it when an artist puts his money on the line to create something he loves.
