Ok Linus, I gotta disagree with you heavily on the iMacs external power brick. I work in a repair shop and have to fix iMacs fairly regularly. The most common failures on iMacs are the old HDD’s, the GPU’s that older units run, and their power supplies. In previous videos I have watched you disassemble iMacs, and you have noted how the high voltage AC capacitors are dangerous. (I have been shocked by them before, it’s not fun) to access the PSU on iMacs you also need to remove the display, which can easily be broken as it is glass, and on some models you have to buy tape kits to put the thing back together properly! By moving the power supply outside of the iMac, it only benefits right to repair. By making the PSU an external unit, it is easily user replaceable, doesn’t require you to remove the delicate glass displays, and means you won’t have to go near those scary high voltage capacitors. If anything I think the external power brick is not something to scoff at, as it copy’s the status quo of other Windows All-In-One’s by having an external brick, but it also makes the device more user serviceable, and is better for right to repair! Otherwise, great video!!

My sister just bought one. Yeah, she could've got a M1 Mac mini, then shopped around for a screen, a keyboard, mouse, and some decent speakers... but she didn't want to do all of that. LITERALLY, one cable to plug the thing in, and started using the machine. The convenience of an all in one is something to factor in as well.

The way parallel processing generally works, with diminishing returns the more cores are used, I think it makes sense that you have a less than 12.5% performance drop when going from 8 GPU cores to 7 GPU cores.

I think the redesign was a good call. 100% of people I know with the 21.5" iMac bought it between 2007 and 2011 and haven't cared to upgrade it since. It's a fantastic family machine for some iMovie, web, and photo organization and people who buy these aren't into tech enough to care. So they just never upgraded them.
