I have been setting alarms on my phone to remind myself to "think psychologically" as Dr Sarno would say. It certainly helps, but it's hard to make lasting breakthroughs with recovery.

This is all very useful Jim. One issue when I go upstream and connect to / label emotions is that my throat drops and forces me to yawn (or sometimes cough) which shortcircuits and stops the 'feeling'. Not sure if you've encountered this before and can offer any advice.

issue for me is i dont know the difference between physical and emotional cause. For example i have chronic fatigue syndrom for years i believe is emotional stress. I now have autoimmune connective tissue disease and can see the physical stress on the body bone loss, skin issues etc

Great video. I have a question for you my friend. I understand the reasons behind why I suppress/repress my “negative” or uncomfortable emotions such as Anxiety and Anger - mainly to try and control other’s perception of me, and to be a people pleaser. However, there is one emotion that I also suppress that I do not understand why.. Joy and excitement. My whole family all suppresses their joy and excitement and they have engrained that same trait in me unfortunately but I just do not understand what is the reason for this mechanism. Why are people afraid to express excitement and joy when it doesn’t have negative repercussions in society like the conflict or judgment that can arise when expressing anger and anxiety?? Thank you

It's not hard to track the emotions, because, since I have this condition ALL feelings seem to be broadcasted on volume 10+.
And, as a consequence, the symptoms ramp up.
What IS hard for me is to try to calm down, in the face of ramped up emotions and symptoms.
It's a daily struggle.

Thanks Jim. I’ve recently found your channel and am finding your videos very helpful. I have a question about allowing yourself to feel your emotions. I have anxiety attacks, and also what I call “rage attacks” where I feel intense anger, (usually toward myself). In both instances I label the emotions I am feeling and try to let that emotion come out. Sometimes this will stop the pain all together, but other times I get so worked up it makes my pain worse. Do you have any advise on how I could better manage my emotions during an attack? Thanks

I have sensory overload and migraine. But it only started 6 years ago. I do understand some physical things as a source of stress too. Loud noises and bright lights are unnatural and potentially stressful to the human body. What do you think about that? I have no doubt that emotions are the leading cause of my illness. But do environmental stressors play any part in this? I feel better in natural environments. I wonder if I've been through so much stress in total that I can't tolerate it in my environment anymore.
