I work at McDonald’s, as a member I can confirm there are multiple reasons it is always down or broken. One reason is due to maintenance, you have to be trained to clean it and it needs cleaned once a week. Another is the vanilla cream, if you run out you can’t make ice cream. Another reason is due to a timeout period (main problem) the machine goes dormant for 5-8 hours a day and heats the ice cream to boiling hot temperatures and then cools it down to keep the ice cream sanatized and prevent bacteria from building up. Unfortunately this process isn’t regulated to happen over the night period.

Plus you also gotta remember Taylor are the ONLY ones authorised to work on the machine...it wouldn't surprise me if its MEANT to break down..

So to keep the contract and keep the £££$$$ coming in instead of making it super reliable ❤

We went to the one in Brentwood Tennessee today and it was broken; broken last year, all last month, yesterday and today. Broken 24/7/365. The biggest joke in America is McDonald's ice cream machine. Fix the problem McDonald's and stop making excuses. Where is Ray Kroc when you need him ?

It's insane, these restaurants are required to buy ice cream machines from one company that gives them machines that break so they have to pay for repairs regularly.

It’s the same with Apple products and washing machines and other things nowadays. It’s not build to last and it’s on purpose, McDonald’s has a contract with the ice cream machine company and only they can fix it or you have to do training in order to do so.

it's not some big mystery why they're always down it's because they have to be maintained by employees that do not know what the heck they're doing. minimum wage employees have to disassemble the thing clean it and reassemble it again now tell me does that sound like something a 17 year old that barely knows how to tie his own shoes can do repeatedly? I worked at a McDonald's for years trust me I know and just because they're down doesn't mean they're broken a lot of times it'll go into a heat mode you can't serve ice cream when they're in that heat mode. take this from me the problem is not the equipment but the people servicing the equipment and their lack of experience and training with it.

simple it's never within their budget to get them fixed or to hire someone to fix it, nor is it within their interest

so I dont agree with it not being a complicated piece of machinery. you're barely scratching the surface by taking a side panel off and pointing out a couple of obvious components. let's have a look at the wiring schematic. you wouldn't know heads from tails
