I've been drinking 1L of vegetable oil every day for years.

It's hard to trust any research done in a country where it's legal for corporations to bribe scientists. Personally, I just go for the Twoface diet where I flip a coin for every controversial food and hope it works out.

I love how people give these mechanistic explanations for why seed oils are bad for you. But when we look at the research, they're fine. You can make an argument for anything being bad using mechanisms. For example, exercise causes oxidative stress in multiple parts of the body, massively increases stress hormone levels, carries a large injury risk and can disrupt sleep if done too late in the day. But guess what, it's one of the healthiest things you can do

So it’s only bad in excess. But it’s in every fucking food. So it will be consumed in excess lol

It’s hard for me to pinpoint how or why but I got nothing from listening to this guy speak. It was almost as if he was about to finish saying something multiple times, but never did.

One of the only long term double blind RTC studies ever done that actually compared animal fats vs processed seed oils found that you didn’t start seeing a difference in health outcomes until about 10 years out from the initiation of seed oils to the diet. It apparently takes a LONG time for these changes to take effect which makes sense. My hypothesis is that our cells will incorporate the fatty acid ratios we consume into their cell and organelle walls over time. If you eat mostly saturated fats, you get cell membranes that are robust and resistant to oxidative stress. If you eat mostly seed oils, your cells will have more of their structure composed of material that easily oxidizes and gets destroyed. A difference like this would essentially make you age faster if you eat more seed oils as simply producing and using ATP generates oxidative stress in the cells and your membranes would be less able to handle the “heat stress” of their own engines running.

It’s simple, seed oils in isolation aren’t bad. But when you start messing with your omega 3 to 6 ratio, that’s what’s bad. And seed oils have a ton of omega 6. Clear research on omega 6 excess being toxic for the body

0:08 already lost me here. correlation like that doesnt mean anything. People are getting fatter because theyre eating more calories.

Seed oils have comically absurd omega 6 levels. How is anyone trying to say not minimizing its consumption is good?

I dont need to deep dive into research anymore when it comes to seed oils. They make me sick literally. Even if I have one meal a week containing seed oils I have instant problems.

It’s much easier for people to point to one boogeyman to blame rather than assessing their lifestyle as a whole. It’s all the fault of seed oils or sugar. Nothing to do with the fact that most people eat like pigs and don’t exercise at all.

I think seed oils are unnecessary in a human diet, but unless you are over consuming seed oils on a consistent basis and high heating them, some seed oil consumption isn’t going to metabolically wreck you like some of these influencers claim they will.

Everyone seems to think the government should determine whether beef lard or vegetable oil is best to fry foods in, why would the government have a purpose in this discussion?

How is it only "ultra-processed foods" are dangerous but not the seed oils? We've seen those videos of them extracting the oils, what the hell is more "processed" than that?

Easiest way to put it is.. if there are less processed variations that you have access to, go off your preferences. Removing seed oils and corn syrup from mine and my wifes diet instantly saw us losing weight, cutting fake sugars from my diabetic friends diets showed blood glucose level improvements over just a few months, using natural sweets rather than processed sweeteners... If its what YOU prefer, do it.

I will basically always be on the side of 'what's more natural' in basically any context.
