Having an open lawsuit against your employer and still showing up to work everyday with a smile must feel like a massive flex

I was a "salaried" worker at a restaurant. I was sick one day, and that day was docked from my pay, I asked why if I am salaried for 40 hours I didnt get paid for 40 hours, they told me they wouldn't pay me for that day so I went to the labor board. You see, they had me punch in on a time clock every day, so the labor board made them pay me for all the hours I worked... And everyone else that worked there. I got a $7, 600 check for all my unpaid hours. People that quit got checks for their unpaid time. It didn't help that my boss told me to call the labor board "he knew how to deal with those assholes" (direct quote that I told the man at the labor board of NJ) I do not take crap from an employer for any reason.

We had a payroll person that kept removing the overtime from us hourly employees. She got an award from the company for reducing overtime. We all printed out our original time cards before she removed it each pay period. We went to the boss several times before contacting the labor board and an attorney. We all ended up getting checks for the back pay. They hope you don't notice or say anything.

Wow, that boss is a MONSTER. I wonder how many times they tried to pull the wool over an employee.

Working is a contract, remember, as a worker, YOU have rights in that contract. Stand up for them!

My husband worked for a company who would never pay them the overtime because he was cheap. Years later after my husband left, one of the employees complained to the board of labor and wages and he received a check for a few thousand dollars. The company was audited, fined and made to pay restitution to all the employees from the past 7 years

If you're an employer just treat your people well. I have two employees, I pay them a fair wage, I give them paid time off, I let them relax at work when things are slow, give them some autonomy. And they bend over backwards for me.

I came back to an old employer to help get through an audit and they could hire someone competent. After I had left a ton of non qualified people were moved to exempt salary from hourly. I notified the Board they are treading on thin ice.

Careful now, some media might call it "quiet quitting", if you start pulling the middle finger within your legal rights

I hate bosses that act like your paycheck is coming out of their pockets

I had a manager that was smart as hell. He calculated the time he worked compared to his salary and wouldn't work over those hours. Smartest dude I ever saw

My Mom had a boss who tried to tell her “managers don’t get overtime” in a small retail store in the local mall. She believed him.

The next manager he had got him audited for several things, including not paying overtime to anyone. Mom got a big check for years of unpaid overtime as a result.

She was a stay at home mom for ages and he took advantage of those types who knew nothing about their rights as workers. You can scam s lot of peeps, but the IRS will always find you.

Even if he qualified as salary exempt, it’s still important to know your worth. ‘Don’t rage quit, instead rage apply’ and find another job that respects you and your work.

“Illegal” in all states just means you’ll get a poor performance review in a few months and be let go because of that

I have ADD and worked in a call center. My supervisor placed my station in one of the busiest walkways in the company, which made it very hard for me to concentrate. Some days I would find another desk away from the congestion and did a better job, but my sup didn't like that. The manager was not help either, wanting to know how long it will take to come around. I went to HR and they realized I had a problem. I showed up the next week, supervisor and manager had been fired during my absence.

In a similar argument with a middle manager before I retired, I eventually had to resort to a lawyer. His letter to my employer began...
"Dear Sir/Madam,
If my client and I need to remind you again what the word 'contract' means, it will be in front of a judge..."
I heard no more.

This is why we need unions to make a roaring comeback.
Don't believe the lies corporations peddle about unions. In every single case where unions are implemented, pay rises, workplace injuries fall, and employees are happier.

That explains why my first job ended up paying out like $5000 per person for unpaid overtime even though we were 'salary' lmao

All people want is pay that's reasonable enough for the work that's done. Treat your employees fairly and you will be rewarded.
