Gamer's Thumb, more formally known as De Quervain's Tendonitis/Tenosynovitis can plague more than just gamers. Moms frequently suffer from this condition when getting their children into or out of their car seats. But just lifting groceries repeatedly can cause this.

Dr. Lin teaches the Finkelstein's test to help determine if you have Gamer's Thumb. Then he teaches an easy exercise to help alleviate pain and strengthen the muscles in your hand!

Wow. Been dealing with gamer's thumb on and off for five years. the relief from this exercise is noticeable. Other exercises left me feeling tired.

if this works I owe you like a million dollars, gave myself a repetetive strain injury playing too much animal crossing when the pandemic hit and haven't been able to game since lol. def right in that area tho so hoping this stretch added to my routine helps!

Started feeling gamer's thumb because I bought a new controller to use for digital art. I spend hours drawing each day (if I have time), so my thumb began hurting in no time. This exercise took much of the pain away almost immediately!

Wow man. I have been feeling gamers thumb for about 3 weeks now. Thought maybe just resting it and not playing as much would do the trick but it seemed to get worse. Just by doing this exercise one time I already felt the difference in my thumb area. How long should I continue to do this for?

How many times a day? How many reps? Before or after you’ve used the muscle? How long do you recommend the card to be held; 3 seconds, 5 seconds or 10 seconds?

Seems like a lot of people have similar questions and some clarification would help. Thanks

You said everyday, but I'm not sure how many times a day, or how many reps

Edit: I would not recommend doing this, one set ended up making everything so much more aggravated. Nobody seem to find an answer about how many reps because it wasn't included regardless.

Omg, I had gamers thumb for almost two months until I finally decided to do something about it. Just did this trick is the pain is literally gone. Will still take it easy with the games though. Thank you so much Dr.Lin!

Is gamekeepers thumb the same thing? When I went to see my specialist that is what he told me I had.

I’ve played on pc for 10+ years but recently got into the souls-like games which are much better with controller so of course I’m having these issues now. Thank you man hopefully this helps, I’ve even tried different claw positioning so I dont need my thumbs but it sucks. Holy shit it worked! I didn’t have nerve or sharp pains at all but just a stiff base of the thumbs muscle. I can finally play games and sleep without my hand feeling FUCKED. You’re a legend

This made more pain spreading down my entire forearm now but the thumb feels better. How ironic 😅
