Imagine being the example for “unattractive daughter/son” in a study😂 brutal.

Growing up, my mom would always say unattractive people make cute babies. She’d be talking to a couple and say “your babies will be so beautiful” that’s when I knew she thought they were unattractive 😭

I think it’s just a case of the mix of features you inherit from your parents. Not every feature will go together in a pleasing way.

A huge part of attractiveness is how you take care of yourself. Physically fit, clear skin, confidence, makes a big difference.

There was this really beautiful girl in my class. She had unattractive parents so I guess sometimes two minuses are equal a plus.

My parents: beautiful mother, handsome father.
Us, their kids: absolute potatoes

I was a nanny and an older daughter from the mom’s previous marriage would come stay sometimes. Stunning. Her mom had a humped nose and when I saw pictures of the dad I expected him to be gorgeous- he was NOT.
Once at dinner, a guest complimented the beauty of her daughter and it was kind of the elephant in the room. She simply said that both her and her ex were always surprised how beautiful their daughter was given how they weren’t attractive, but that she managed to get their prettiest traits while avoiding all the bad ones.
After that I always noticed that unattractive parents make beautiful children. A girl in my kid’s class has an Irish mom and a Nigerian dad- they are average looking. Their daughter is drop dead gorgeous.

I find that very attractive people usually don’t even resemble their parents.

It is not always about genetics, also about fitness, life style etc.

A man once said he didn’t want kids with me because he wanted his children to be attractive. I didn’t even think people could think like that but yep

Crazy thing is my mum and dad are both very objectively attractive and definitely 9/10s but meanwhile me and my twin sister are considered “unattractive” and ugly as girls because we inherited more masculine features from our dad’s genetics (his hooked nose, broad build, hairiness etc). We often joke that if we were born boys with these features we’d be considered attractive. I’ve seen guys look prettier than me it’s crazy!

Okay, but this is literally the worst picture of Alain-Fabien online 😂

This is why it is so important for good-looking people to be humble.

While you may be classically handsome or beautiful, your children may not be, and if you were mean to or dismissive of others, well, others may be mean to or dismissive of your average looking kids. And there isn't much worse than seeing your kids in emotional (or physical) pain.

It's not just the features. It's also neatness and care

I think visual attractiveness has a lot to do with how individual features look together. a person can have any combination of features, but what matters is if they come together to create some sort of balance, or feature cohesion. I think this is why many who become models have somewhat androgynous faces, a balance between soft and sharp. those deemed attractive have higher levels of feature cohesion, those deemed unattractive, lower levels, and those deemed average, average levels.I figured this out through art, as I wanted to find out why some of the faces I drew were less appealing than others, and it seems to come down to a balance of shapes and space.

Sometimes, kids look like other relatives, too! I saw a girl who was the spitting image of her maternal grandma. So much so that the older ppl thought they'd seen the grandma's ghost. Those older ppl & the grandma had grown up together on that same block. The girl wore her grandma's dress (they were the same height & size too) & took a stroll down the street. And ppl really thought she was the grandma from 40/50 years ago. I believe the girl was like 15 - 20 yrs old.

Also, I know a guy personally who looks just like his uncle. Same height, size, complexion, & facial features. He looks more like his uncle than he does his own parents. I looked left/right, then up/down, & just left that alone. I couldn't ask!

This makes so much sense, my parents were objectively “attractive” when they were young… my sister is objectively fairly pretty… I am not… I always wondered if I was adopted or my Dad wasn’t actually my Dad 😅 I feel slightly better having watched the video

As a son i feel like crying. This reminded me of my chemistry teacher who once called me ugly infront of all class who laughed at me. Even though i dress well and take care of myself . I wish i was attractive
