We don't know what they're going to cost, same leakers said the 4090 would cost $2500, a new article from WCCF Tech today says the 5090 will cost the same as 4090, who knows. As for AMD they have shown generation after generation they aren't interested in competing with Nvidia on price instead of following the prices Nvidia sets at the beginning of each generation. This has become a meme at this point where it is mentioned even in reviews, they release their equivalent GPU to Nvidia at $50 or $100 cheaper, and than months later they slash their prices to what they should've been to begin with wasting an opportunity to gain market share when the hype and fomo is at it's highest.
The trap some people fall into is manipulating themselves to believe that one company are the good guys who care and the other the bad guys who don't and make purchasing decisions out of spite, when in reality they are the same, trying to make as much money of the products they have to offer to the free market. The free market than decides what something is worth based of whether it sells or not, if it sells price stays the same, if it doesn't price goes down. Very simple concept.

I had to go with the 7900XTX. I bought mine a year ago for under $1000 and got a free $60 game with it. The 4080 was still $1200. 16GB of VRAM vs 24GB and $200+ less cost for the XTX. I just couldn't pay more for less VRAM.

The stuttering in SH2 that Alex was talking about isn't an Nvidia exclusive issue. It's an issue on all cards. The game uses heavy Volumetrics and GI so things are even worse on Radeon. I'm a fan of both companies and want AMD to make full features cards as much as anyone. If you are wondering what I'm talking about with the GI and Volumtric issues look at Radeon drive patch notes over the past year. Over 20 games have released in the last year that AMD themselves listed as having issues with GI, Volumetrics or transparencies. Usually a combo of crashing and graphical glitches.

Soon we all will have to take out mortgages for video cards.

Problem is that many I know are also hobby AI users now. AMD doesn't have cuda support etc. They slept on that. Hopefuly coming back 😊

Amd can't win because when they do compete they still lose. It's about banding together saying no to nvidi and showing them people have the power to control your prices!

Stopped buying Nvidia and went AMD last gen. Have had almost zero problems and play most games at 4K. Not ever going back unless their prices drop a good bit!

It has to be said but Nvidia has by all accounts become the Apple of Computer Hardware. People will shell out 2x what they paid before just for a marginal upgrade. And Nvidia knows this, and they know that they have pretty much the entire market cap of GPUs. You talk alot about AMD but Intel is still miles behind in GPUs, so overall, Nvidia still leaves the others in the dust. So they'll continue to take advantage of it, until the competitors are acknowledged. And I have a feeling that we're reaching performance ceilings, which are present now in Nvidia upgrades, that will give time for the others to catch up at better prices.

I hope you'll grab an AMD 8800 XT and test its stutters for us :) Even if it's performance falls in the 7900XT - 7900XTX range, it might be worth grabbing to save yourself a ton of money, provided the performance is sufficient for most of your games. Though I feel you'll have to forget about 4K gaming on an AMD 8800 XT even using FSR - we'll see soon enough.

ive had way more AMD gpus since like 2007 then nvidia, and ive always liked them, the only big difference is the support from amd vs nvidia. Amd will always come out with a driver or update or features that are good, but they just dont always release drivers for games before they launch, or make stuff easier like dropping the new verison of FSR into game folders yourself like you can with dlss, so you arent having to wait on slow ass game developers to implement stuff. that's my only gripe with them, nvidia just has more resources and support from developers to do these things quickly.

Currently running a RX 6700 non-xt. I haven't felt the need to upgrade this gen, even with the recent price drops. I am more interested in the power efficiency improvements that the next gen will offer.

Frog boy our 7900xtx's will be plenty good until amd comes out with another high end gpu. As long as they do and they don't go to many generations

I don't know what more I can do to convince people. It's very hard to get someone to risk money on a video card ($400 - $1000) when the echo chamber keeps screaming that they're making a mistake. I really wish my friends would try Radeon cards. I've been so happy with mine... but it is, what it is. I don't know what more I can do.
