What’s even worse is some people purchase high refresh rate monitors and they forget to enable the high refresh rate on window’s display settings! 😂

Also bear in mind that since this is technically overclocking, if you get any instability issues on your PC, the first thing you should try is disabling this.

you know whats worse? a friend of mine buying a 360hz monitor and not noticing it being on 60hz and still staying he feels a difference xD

These are the kinds of "Shorts" that make sense to me, unlike some others that I see elsewhere. I like this one Jay, I have to tell customers all the time why its "slower"

Running at advertised speeds: 6000MHz
Early: pointing at 6400MHz

Since nobody wants to explain XMP:

XMP2 utilizes the original timings as programmed by the memory manufacturer. With XMP1 the motherboard instead ignores some of them and tries to optimize them itself during memory training (usually works and can be slightly faster, but can also fail/cause instabilities).

I run xmp2 on my ddr 3200mhz ram with a 10700k @5.1ghz all core. AMD cpus want super fast ram speeds. You should always run XMP, dual channel, and the lowest CAS timings if possible.

Something to keep in mind, if suddenly your games are crashing after enabling this, try setting lower speeds until your system is stable, a 6400mhz memory might crash at that speed but work fine with 6000mhz

Once you're overclocked, use memtest86+ to test the memory for stability at that speed. It will take a few/several hours, but it's worth it.

This kind of video is really great. For old heads like me that only build a machine every 7-8 years I didn't know this one. Thanks Jay and the guys!

Holy shit this short just got me a 1750 point boost on cinebench. I built my PC back in 2018 and never checked this. I tested earlier today just a bit over 6k on a 2600x, made this change, and clocked nearly 7900. Incredible.

One thing people never tell you is you need to look at your Mobo stats first. I did this on mine and it took multiple cmos resets and ram swaps to get it to post. If you have 4 sticks ddr5 and try to do it many boards will only do XMP with 2. Always look at compatibility before just selecting this overclock

Im a new pc builder. I was wondering why my ram was only running at 2100mhz and i paid for 3200. This tip worked and am now running at the paid for 3200mhz. Thank you, you have a new subscriber

Something you also need to point out which you did not… on a lot and I mean 90% of intel chip/boards. When enabling XMP, it enables the MCE feature or pushes more from the cpu meaning higher temps. So when enabling xmp, when you F10 save, check the changes to see if it was toggled on. Happens to me ALL THE TIME. Msi board the z790 tomahawk ddr5 here with 13900k and it enabled the cpu overclock stuff which I had to disable and limit the TDP to max 255 watts and finally managed to get 4 dimms of ddr5 6000mhz to run after a little tinker. So now 64GB ram on 4 dimms running :)

I love that its a Falcon Northwest PC, which probably already came with the memory overclock

You forgot to „add more thermal paste“
