Have you noticed white spots, black, or brown spots on your baby’s front teeth that won’t brush off? This final part of a 3-part dramatization of an initial pediatric dental visit will walk you through what might occur at that first dental appointment with your baby should they show signs of tooth decay.

Did you know that dental cavities are the most common chronic disease of childhood? If you find yourself and your child with this diagnosis, please know that you’re not a bad parent and you’re not alone. Cavities caught early can often be managed simply and non-invasively by the pediatric dentist. Check all three videos for the full appointment that explains cavity diagnosis and the spots, then silver diamine fluoride treatment. My hope is these help you learn more about non-invasive treatment options so you can discuss them with your personal dentist.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first dental visit occur within 6 months of their first tooth coming in or by their first birthday, whichever is earliest. This is because it’s far easier to treat and manage cavities caught early - so check my website FAQ section where I link the AAPD and the ABPD’s locators by zipcode so that you can find a pediatric dentist near you:
