I’m a mom with my own severe dental anxiety and my son who has autism needs 4 cavities filled. He has an appointment to get 2 done this week and I am more anxious than he is. I’m doing my best to make sure it is a positive experience for him.

Edit: he ended up having to go back to have it done with sedation. We tried to do it without but he was nervous and kept trying to put his hands in his mouth. Fortunately they got all the work done in one visit.

This is partially helpful. You are ignoring the fact, it is true that insurance and dentists are a business and they will nearly ALWAYS recommend the pathway that creates business. Small or large. Please makes another video on real life scenarios of kids 5-8 where it would be ok to improve certain mouth hygiène practices, rather then cost of dental work on baby teeth is the correct route.

Hi, my child has a cavity on both sides of a baby tooth between two adult teeth. The baby tooth will not fall off in 4-5 years. My dentist suggests to space out between the three teeth with rubber rings and then crown the baby tooth, preventing cavity spread to the other two adult teeth. The baby tooth will not get any treatment and eventually will fall off.

What would you recommend for treatment?

I work for Dental Insurance and yes its very important to treat all cavities! no matter if its baby teeth or not.

Situation I’m in right now with my son after I thought I was doing all the right things. Honestly, the most simple fact I wish I knew was that cavity can spread. If I knew that months ago, it would’ve totally changed the trajectory of my decisions…. and now we’re looking at a root canal.

My pediatric dentist does not advise fillings on kids teeth and wants to do stainless crowns on all of my sons molars, I’m mortified but also trust his judgement so am feeling very conflicted about it.

How come now a days dentists suggest for kids to get tooth to get removed. My son had all four of his front top teeth removed, why is this the new normal? I thought they would just fix the teeth instead of fixing it until it falls out naturally?

Back in 2021 I had 6 Cavities and 4 Baby Teeth.
The filling wasn’t so bad but the Dentist was surprised that I needed to take small breaks because it was too much water in my mouth.
It was my first time at a Dentist and I’m still not looking forward to my second filling because of all that water was a very unpleasant experience.
