BEST and EASY Method to Take Out Broken Sprinkler

My son accidentally broke a sprinkler riser outside of his bedroom window and didn't tell me about it! The sprinkler riser broke right at the base too. My little man kept waking up at night and coming to our bedroom but about a week of this later, I came to his room right at the time when the sprinklers come on and heard the sprinkler blasting water into our soffit! After unsuccessfully trying a variety of different methods I almost decided to go buy the extraction tool but one last try with the butter knife did the trick! If you ever run into a similar problem, may my example be of help!

This worked for me. I also used a vice grip to secure the base. Very important to hammer the knife NO MORE than needed or it will tighten the system making it harder to remove or breaking even.
