Helpful information, I had this operation done to remove a schwannoma that branched into my T4-T6 vertebrate. Never knew what was actually done though so this was interesting to watch

Thank you for this video! My husband (31 years old) has been struggling so much with extreme pain in his back for almost 5 years now. We live in Belgium and he has tried everything; they even gave him morphine! The last MRI-scan he had, he got the results: ''"There is wear and osteoarthritis (joint wear) in the L5-S1 area, which leads to a narrowing of the foramen on the left side. This causes pressure on the L5 nerve root on the left, which may explain the pain radiating to the left leg." Did my research on the internet and came across your video.

He has to do Infiltrations soon and after that maybe they'll do a surgery on him, but they are not so positive about it.

Thank you for this video. It educated us alot on this topic.

Donโ€™t we need the spinal process to protect the spinal nerve root?

Thanks for the information Dr. I just have one query. In case of laminotomy, the bone can regrow and occupy the space, which can cause ailment again in similar way. Isn't it?

I have lower back pain that presents after walking for 2 hours. A CT scan showed Broad Based Disc Protrusions at L4-L5 and L5 to S1. Spondylosis of the lumbar spine. I have NO leg pain whatsoever. The first surgeon suggested a spinal fusion and I said NO. Then he said 2 Coflex spacers. I got a second opinion and he said if I don't have leg pain, the Coflex spacers would do more harm than good. He suggested a laminectomy. Any thoughts?

I will be having Laminectomy in two days for pinched nerve. My disc herniation is very minimal and doctor told me as if there is no herniation but the nerve stays in an inflamed state all the time. I'm afraid after the surgery the vertebrae becomes weak and I will have to abandon my sports and all the things I'm used to. I'm also scared that a couple of years later will need fusion because all the people did told me they had fusion after a while. Is that true doc?
