There are many types of surgeries to fix this condition. In this video I review the minimally invasive options!

I do about 15 new patient telemedicines every week. Here is the best path forward:
2- if we take that insurance THEN upload your images (get the CD from image center) to my portal for our 1st visit
3- I must have X-rays and MRI, X rays are critical. Just MRI isn’t enough. Need to be from last 12 months. Nothing older is needed, or wanted.
4- You need to get your CD 💿 of your X ray and MRI (imaging centers will never send them to us)
6- recap: email us, get CDs, upload
Step by step:

I had severe spinal stenosis in my lower lumbar and the first two orthopedic Drs I saw wanted to send me to a bigger city at a spinal institution and were telling me I needed as many as four discs fused. I found a neurosurgeon who used something called an ultra sonic scalpel and without fusing any discs fixed my back. I have no pain in my hip or down my leg at all. He told me I had osteocytes so large that they were pinching some of my nerves almost flat. This was from osteoarthritis. I had this in sections 1-4 in my lumbar. I’m very grateful for this Dr and glad I sought another opinion because I believe a four disc fusion would have wrecked my life.

Thank you for explaining spinal stenosis. I have suffered for over 30 years with chronic low back pain I finally had a pain pump surgery its helped but now my stenosis has gotten worse. Thanks for giving information to millions of back pain sufferers.

I am 68 years old, had spinal stenosis since I was a in grade school, strengthening core muscles is the answer! The only time my back didn’t hurt was during military service, until I tried picking up something too heavy ! Good luck to all!!!

Thank you for the most comprehensive video I have seen. My husband has been in pain for 6-1/2 years, and we have tried almost everything short of surgery, which he hopes to avoid. He was diagnosed with a disc herniation and now it is considered an annular tear. He has tried injections, massage, at home PT, back braces, etc. He now has a new symptom - foot drop. So, your expertise will enable us to make a more informed decision. It has been a challenging journey.

Thank you, Dr. Donnally, very much for your explanations in both part 1 and part 2 of this series. The time that has been put into this narrative and the narrative that accompanies it is invaluable to me.

. Thank you for this precise description. My husband now 80, has lumbar stenosis. Walking is very difficult and he now uses a cane as his hips are also a pain problem. He lap swims 3 times a week and this keeps him mobile, with pain medication and now a heated back brace when gardening. I had a laminectomy L5 S1, some 20 yrs ago due to pinched nerves which gave me indescribable pain and finally my specialist decided to operate when all else failed. What a relief to stand up but I would not choose to go through it again. I maintain my core strength and seldom have a problem other than standing upright from bending forward which I try not to do. Comparing our spine issues, mine is great at 76 but his is worsening which has greatly restricted his once very active life.

You explain the steps very clearly. I have lost muscle strength in my left arm, hand fingers, left leg, foot and toes. Neurologist diagnosed my symptoms as parkinson's.

I have lumbar spinal stenosis in L4-5 and S 1. which seems to be classic. In my late 60s, I woke up one morning and both my feet were numb. That was the beginning.

I just had a minimal tubular laminectomy l2/3....kept all the bones intact to keep structure integrity. Doc just removed some bone to create a window to decompress the nerve...start with the most minimal procedure first !

Thank you doctor for your detailed descriptions of surgery and other alternative treatment. I now fully understand how the process will be. I fear to get surgery even though I'm suffering nerve neuropathy. Thanks a lot.

Ive had stenosis lumbar for 5 years which has caused weakness and foot drop, difficulty in walking as a result. Gabapentin for a year after lbuprofin and daily exercises no relief. In GB covid halted all treatment but suddenly ive been told i definitely need decompression and instrumental fusion. L4 L5 and lower disc, s1 i think . Your presentation is very thorough and i can tell you are extremely careful about options . Ive just had new x rays mri and ct scans for up to date info and if these ar e good enough its crunch time . Im 73 and people have alerted me of problems . Im attending the famous walton centre in liverpool so im lucky really, hey its no good worrying

Thank you for the video Doctor. You mentioned pros and cons to artificial disc replacement. Could you please be more descriptive in terms of ADR, specifically in the L5-S1?
