There's a deep sense of learned helplessness in docs. Given the bad mis-education they've been given, given the prevalence of the CICO model, given the bad healthy eating guidelines they (and everyone else) have been brainwashed with, given the continuing catastrophic advice from the majority of dieticians and professional organisations... They've tried and tried with the tools they've been given, and both docs and patients have worn themselves out with trying.

Great content. I watched Dr Chris Van Tulleken on BBC2 last night, Why Can't we stop eating? It shows how ultra processed foods are manipulated by the food industry, well worth watching.

The number one reason are our dietary guidelines.

Community is instrumental with achieving success with maintaining the proper human diet lifestyle. And ideally not just online together but also regular in-person get togethers.

I have T2D for over 25 years. Found keto life style 5 years ago, following drJ Fung, Dr Unwin and E Westman. Went through catarach operation with no complications. Managing very well without GP. Spend hundred pounds on blood testing kit. I was told NO INSULIN INJECTIONS/TABLET, NO CGM. Have private blood test every 4 months to start with, now once a year. I am doing well. You all help me to go throughout my journey. Thank you XXX.

Talking about CGMs, there is talk about CGMs that also track ketones at the same time. Do you know when they are coming out?

Good point about NORMALISING low carb...about 40 minutes into the video. I will start making the point that MY diet is normal, and theirs is weird and killing them!

Great to be a Christian, it gives you the advantage of transferable skills! We have learned how to spread good news for the last 2000 years. It is time to add the Keto message. Our church is growing and is vibrant, so we are doing something right! Patient loving persistanc, leading by example!

Another comment from me: I have 3 good friends. Each obese. Each chronically very ill. One with horrendous leg ulcers (I've posted the pictures - with her permission - not here though). They WILL NOT? CAN NOT? change their lifestyles. I'm watching them struggle, waddle, pop pills. My tax money pays for their care (what a cruel thing to say). I am the only one who went keto, reversed prediabetes, shrank my fatty liver, and got amazing health back. WHY did I succeed? WHY do they choose sickness, disability? Is it a choice?

Dr. Unwin spoke of audits. In his published works, he restricted his audits to people who chose therapeutic carbohydrate restriction (Group 1). Did he audit people diagnosed with DMT2 in his practice who rejected TCR (Group 2)? It would be interesting to see the Kaplan-Meyer Survival Curve for Group 1 and Kaplan-Meyer Survival Curve for Group 2.

I tend to generally restrict my messaging to anti-sugar, for most people that I converse with, as it is often too much to squeeze the UPF/carbohydrate full rant into a short 5 minute "social" conversation. It is only part of the picture, yes, but it is at least moving the dial a bit, and eventually people will just accept that sugar is a toxin at the doses that we are fed it, and then we can move on to a more refined full-on conversation. We do not want to rattle the horses... Prudens qui patiens.

I told my doc I was eating a very low carb diet. He gave me a sideways look and said, “Not keto right?” I just said I wasn’t able to get that low on the carbs. Clearly he didn’t approve of a keto diet but he didn’t push. And I wasn’t forthcoming. But who cares? I don’t need his approval.

I was a nurse in the 70s and never saw 'middle-age onset' diabetes in anyone under about 50. In the 80s and 90s I was a biology teacher and had to teach that criminal carby food pyramid. After that it was suddenly 'type2' diabetes and starting in young people. Obviously all my fault.
