It’s easy to criticise this car but having bought one I can categorically state that it’s comfortable, fun and quite capable of motorway driving. A trip to Surrey from Merseyside was no problem and all at 56mpg. If you need more room or performance-buy a bigger car!

It's funny how much focus the half seat in the back gets in every review. This is a 2CV, a Renault 4, a Golf 1. This is for two people commuting, bringing people in the back once or twice as she said. And everybody keeps forgetting the best takeaway is the simple construction plus coming from Toyota, makes it very very very very very veeeeryyy reliable.

Nice review, thank you. Just test drove and ordered my new Aygo X Edge this afternoon. My local dealer said I'll have it in September, more likely the end of September. So that's 8 or 9 weeks max hopefully! This car is a beautiful car to drive, looks great and feels fabulous. I wanted an automatic originally, but they didn't have an auto for me to test, but I was so impressed by the manual box the way it drove and looked, I bought it anyway! This is not a fast car, doesn't need to be, but my 30 miles ride this aft gave me 50 mpg and I wasn't even trying to drive economically with the thing. As long as it gets me and the missus around town, and takes us to Scarborough or Yarmouth and back on hols reasonably comfy, speed and acceleration doesn't matter, but it's not bad anyway! Never owned a Toyota before, looking forward to it.

I am picking mine up on Thursday this week. With automatic and the opening canvas roof … I think the overall look is very attractive for the current circumstances, and I wanted something small, replacing a Yaris hybrid. I am aware that I might find it slightly underpowered occasionally, but my motorway driving is relatively rare … and I did take it out on motorway for my test drive a couple of months ago … my main use case is in town / between local towns. This seems like a very fair review overall, and highlights the key points plus and minus quite nicely. If you have any interest in design etc. It might well appeal to you. And features / build quality / reliability will be very good, I am sure.

As an owner of an original Aygo I find the trend for larger & larger small cars somewhat self-defeating. I can often park my Aygo where larger cars just cannot fit, which is quite satisfying 😁Only yesterday I popped down to my local village shop & parked in the one remaining space, which happened to be between a Range Rover & a huge Ford Ranger Pickup Truck. On coming out of the shop I find the (rather large) guy unable to get into his Range Rover as the vehicle filled the space and there was not enough room to open the door wide enough for him to get in. The cars get bigger, but the parking spaces stay the same

I've bought one of these after having the previous model for three years. The back seat space is poor but the boot space is notably better. The whole package is way ahead of the previous car although I wish it had a bit more poke. Overall though, I'm very pleased.

Had mine three weeks now, can't fault it for my needs. 68 mpg average.

The exterior looks very nice. And I like the fact the touch screen is in the dash, and not just stuck on top like a lot of other Toyota products. I also agree, it's sad that a lot of small cars and even sedans are being discontinued because people have gone SUV mad. I guess SUVs are safer these days. But I still see them flip over in accidents more, compared to lower to the ground style cars. Great review Tish.

Good informative video but to me a small car should be just that, a small preferably 3 door car... not a jacked up 5 door SUV lookalike with hardly any more room then its predecessor...

I have test driven this Aygo X Exclusive and was really impressed by its performance so I have ordered one and will be with me in September wherefore the Yaris has a twelve month wait

Really pleased with my exclusive. The safety features are very impressive for a city car. Yet to do a motorway trip but think once its up to speed will be fine. Thumbs up.

Had mine for a few weeks, fab wee car, brilliant fuel economy and comes packed with amazing safety features which most reviews over look. I purchased the Edge model, one reviewed here is the exclusive.

Great review, but words fail me. We're at an all-time low with car design - all manufacturers seem to do is take what they've done before, jack it up a bit, add some bigger wheels and plastic over the arches and instead of calling it an SUV, call it a crossover (which is really an SUV). This is the laziest form of creating a 'new' car. SUV's are no safer either - it's an illusion. Infact, due to higher center of gravity, are more prone to rolling.

It's actually a decent car we have had one for a few weeks now. Very smooth compared to the Aygo even though the engine needs a good thrash to get up hills it's giving 55 mpg and the height helps with curbs .

We recently traded our 2017 Aygo X-claim Limited Edition for an ex-demo Aygo Cross Limited Edition and absolutely love it !
The new Yaris felt too big for my wife from her Mark2 Yaris - but the chunky Aygo Cross is about the same size as the old Yaris and gives her added drive height as she is petite.
The styling is fun and quirky and it comes pretty much loaded with the same safety features as my RAV4 Dynamic Premium - not least with the heated front seats for the winter commute to join the electric fun roof for the summer - perfect combo of nippy city car and cabriolet tourer for the myriad of single track roads here in Scotland😊

As a second car that could be for a new driver this makes perfect sense. A plug in hybrid or electric may give much better fuel economy but today when many households have more than one car I'm unsure how many would have a wall box or two. This is a fill up, switch on and go that as you mention should be cheap to insure and no worries if it doesn't get its turn at the wall box.

We picked up a new one a few days ago and the one thing that absolutely gets on my nerves is the incessant speed warning! 🤣 I hate systems that reset themselves when you turn a car off and the over speed warning is one of those that comes back on once the car is turned off and on again!

I have an Aygo x for work and a large seat Tarraco for carrying family . The Aygo is perfect for driving around city and getting in small spaces.

Had a courtesy car one of these. More Yaris than aygo comparing old ones. Did m says no problem and average 60mpg. Compared to competition best out these imo. Those 1krfe engines can do150k miles and very easy to maintain/repair. Very comfy and quiet. These 1.0 are 69bhp not lacking in any way at all. Very torquey as well as long geared. This car is built for a purpose and it does it superbly
