Ooooh, so the second sphere that you heavily subdivided was for the vertices on the emoji face to snap to?? That would make sense. Genius!

really hard to follow. slow down and explain the steps more. when im insetting the faces for the mouth my vertices get moved around and it doesnt come out clean like yours
