If I recall correctly (but it has been 10 years or so), the intro to Caesar's work is something like "yeah there's a lot of peoples here, _horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae"_ which translates to "of all these, the strongest are the Belgians".

Well actually Belgium, although not in name got a separate state at the beginning of the 80 years war when the north (the current Netherlands) split of. After a brief union from 1814 to 1830 Belgium became a fully independent state. Recognized by the Dutch in 1839. 🖤💛❤️
