Through the connection at the bottom right? Since they're connected, so long as there is a way for air to escape the top of the connected barrel the water should just fill up at the same rate as the main barrel.

Which parts did you use for the overflow hose? PVC etc. ?

Have you thought about putting the drain hose over into the intake of the additional barrel you are using? I see they are connected at the bottom, but how are you getting additional water into your extra barrel?
