It has happened to me as well during C1D Visa interview. She called another officer and saw my 25 years experience and looked into my letter of employment carefully. Immediately asked about my family and approved the visa. Its a great tip to cool the nerves during pause moment.

This happened to me when I was changing from a J-1 visa to an O-1 visa. The Officer asked me if I have the waiver to two years home country residency requirement. I didn't have that at that time with me since I was told that this requirement is not there for an O-1 visa. She then went back and returned within a min and said "nevermind it does not apply to O-1" and approved my case. But, I must say I was a little surprised for a minute because I went through four US visa interviews before that but this never happened (visa officer leaving the window).

Actually on my first L-1 visa exactly that happened. But the visa officer came back and said "I'm gonna approve your visa" and told me that I will receive my passport in some days via registered mail in the envelope I had to give them.

Hi, My husband and I have a b1/b2 visa went to the us in 2018, recently got an h2b visa, .but my husband's h4 visa (dependent) was denied, they only asked him 1 question and denied, after 3 weekes he also got a job offer to h2b visa and was denied again, what should we do? I have to work but its definitely harder to go and leave him behind, also he is terrified of even trying to visit me for the holidays and get deported ! I am happy that I got the job but really sad that my family cannot be there with me!

Hi Mandy, I request you confirm the below f2 answers.
1. Why did you choose F2 Visa and why not B2 Visa (visiting visa)?

Ans – As my wife is on F1, I applied for F2 and I believe that’s the correct visa type for me.

2. What is the purpose of your visit? / Why are you going to the USA? Where are you going?

Ans – I want to go as I want to be with my wife on our wedding anniversary, who is studying her masters in the USA. And also, to see if she is all settled and doing good.
3. Why is she not coming and you going? / So, you want to visit your wife and why is he not coming and you going?

Ans – She cannot come as she has picked up two courses in Summer and has to go to the University.

I want to go as I want to be with her on our anniversary. And to see if she is all settled and doing good.

4. If she is busy with courses, what can you do?

Ans – She will be busy on a few weekdays, but free on weekends and other weekdays. So, we can spend some quality time and visit a few nearby places.

5. It’s been a short while but why are you going?

Ans – Firstly, I want to be with her on our wedding anniversary. And I want to give her some moral support, as it’s her first time staying apart.
12. Who is sponsoring for your trip? / Do you have any sponsor?

Ans – I will be funding my trip with savings of about 30, 000 dollars as I have been working since quite a good time. And my wife has her funds already with savings, loan and sponsorship.

13. Who sponsored your wife’s trip?

Ans – My father-in-law and my wife herself funded her trip as she worked for a good number of years. She had 27000 dollars savings, 34000 dollars of loan and also 30 percent scholarship.
17. What will you do in your free time?

Ans - In my free time I will help my wife in the house-hold activities and any pending clean-up things. And when my wife has free time over weekends, we are planning to visit nearby places like New York -Time square, Boston and Rhode Island.

18. Will she go for OPT?

Ans – She just completed her First semester. It is too early for me to say on her behalf. But she planned to come back to India as early as possible as I will be in India.

19. Why didn’t you go along with your spouse?

Ans –I had to close a few targets of my business as the financial year was coming to end. And also, as she just went and I had no reason to travel.

Hello, i have immigrant visa to enter the United States. I completed my immigrant interview on November 7, 2023. On November 8th, she received the email below from LBC stating that her passport would be ready for pick-up on November 10th. On the 10th, i received the email below from LBC stating that her passport would be sent back to the US Embassy for rechecking.

Hi Mandy,
Thanks for the wonderful video. All the information you provide is very useful to know the US visa interview process.
My case: I had gone to US in F-2 visa and I changed it to F-1 status with the help of USCIS. Because of a project I needed to travel to Panama and I took an F-1 visa interview in the US embassy in Panama to return back to the US to continue my studies but the Visa Officer seemed too confused about my case that she had to leave the window multiple times and discuss with other visa officers. And she finally denied a visa even though she knew I was halfway through my Master's degree. The only reason I can think of why she denied my visa was because, at the time of interview, I didn't have a sponsorship document which was mentioned in my I-20. She could have denied me under 221(g) for that but she denied me on 214(b). I'm a Nepali citizen and there is no appointment available right now in Nepal. I'm so stressed about this condition, I would appreciate it if you could suggest me something.

Because I had to blow my nose and I didn’t want to do it in front of the applicant.

This is so intesting. I thought I am the only one who have faced it during my 2nd visa interview.

Once I stayed in the USA for more than 4 months as I was riding my Tandem bicycle from Seattle to DC. I think this answer made the visa officer confused as it is not very common answer from someone like me especailly from a country where I am from. Then again, two years later, 5 months or so, I was riding the same tandem from Anchorage to Toronto. If you travel to Yukon from Alaska there were no Immigration in the US side but at the Canadian side in 2014. Today I got the answer why did my visa officer left the window! And fortunatly they believed me and issued another visa.

But thank you for sharing your expertise.
