Ig many people don’t realize how surreal and beautiful many common sea creatures are. Like swordfish, for example they gleam like a rainbow and they’re massive in person. This planet is full of mysteries and awe.

First one is a hair tail. Also known in different names like ribbon fish, belt fish etc. Neither deep water nor rare. Caught hundreds from both land based as well as from boat in less than 20m depth

I saw amother video, they let the fish go in that extended version. Deep sea is full of silence and kinda scary! Plastic debri is often found in the stomach of lancetfish. Who finds veggies rather yummy?! 😋

The facts of the 3 fishes
Cutlassfish: Silver scabbardfish, Lepidopus caudatus Benthodesmus simonyi Aphanopus carbo The cutlassfishes are about 45 species of predatory fish in the family Trichiuridae of the order Scombriformes found in seas throughout the world
Phronima: Phronima is a genus of small, deep sea hyperiid amphipods of the family Phronimidae. It is found throughout the world's oceans, except in polar regions. Phronima species live in the pelagic zone of the deep ocean. Their bodies are semitransparent
Lancetfish: Lancetfishes are large oceanic predatory fishes in the genus Alepisaurus in the monogeneric family Alepisauridae. Lancetfishes grow up to 2 m in length. Very little is known about their biology, though they are widely distributed in all oceans, except the polar seas

I’m glad they didn’t mention the coelacanth, don’t get me wrong it’s a good fish but every time I see one of these videos number one is always the coelacanth

The lancetfish (Alepisaurus), also known as the long-snouted lancetfish, is a deep-sea predator found in oceans worldwide. It has a long, slender body, sharp fang-like teeth, and a tall, sail-like dorsal fin. Lancetfish can grow up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) in length.

They are known for their silvery, metallic appearance and are often found in deeper waters but sometimes swim near the surface. Lancetfish are opportunistic feeders, preying on fish, squid, and other marine animals. They have a reputation for being fierce hunters, but little is known about their behavior due to their deep-sea habitat.

Despite their predatory nature, they are sometimes preyed upon by larger fish and marine mammals.

Last to first btw)

Phronima is not a fish but a small, deep-sea amphipod (a type of crustacean). It has a transparent, barrel-shaped body and is known for its parasitic behavior. Phronima females hollow out the bodies of gelatinous organisms like salps to create barrel-like homes, in which they lay their eggs and live. These creatures are found in deep ocean waters and are often associated with eerie, alien-like appearances due to their clear bodies and large eyes.

Despite their small size, Phronima are fierce predators, feeding on plankton and other small sea creatures. They are also believed to have inspired the design of the alien queen in the "Alien" movie franchise.

The cutlassfish (Trichiuridae), also known as ribbonfish, is a long, slender, silver-colored fish found in both tropical and temperate oceans worldwide. It has a sharp, blade-like body resembling a cutlass or ribbon, which can grow up to 2 meters (6.6 feet).

Cutlassfish are carnivorous, feeding on smaller fish, squid, and crustaceans. They have large, fang-like teeth and are known for their aggressive hunting style. Found at various depths, from shallow coastal waters to deep sea, they are often caught for food in some regions but are less common in commercial fisheries.

Cutlassfish aren't rare. Commercial fishers use them as bait. They're rare to catch because people aren't trying to catch them. It's perfectly fine to keep and eat if you wanted.

The last be looking like my sleep paralysis if it was a fish and I’m also scared of the deep sea so that just adds to it
