I am a proud owner of electric car. I use the car in city and in highways too. The ride is amazingly smooth and comfortable. Also the acceleration is much better than that of fossil fuel cars. The charging cost is much less than you mentioned here. Most of the EV owners opts home charging than the charging stations. So the actual cost of charging is almost half of the amount you mentioned. Many other aspects to consider. Suppose you have a bike and a car at home. As bike is more fuel efficient when compare to a petrol car, generally everyone uses a bike for short trips. Because of that, you have to compromise on your travel safety. But as for EV owners, they use the car for every trip regardless of the distance because of the lower fuel costs and thus get greater travel safety.

If the electric vehicle runs 5 trips of 500 kms a month means 5000 kms a month then is it possible to give warranty for 7 years on battery? Cost of replacement of battery will be 100% or more considering the depreciation of vehicle, year by year. You can use as 2nd vehicle.

Petrol price now 105….over 5 year 250 can expect….I don’t think that much hike will come in electricity charge. So price inflation rate also need to consider

When you consider the cost comparison of EV and Petrol cars, there are a lot of factors to be considered other than what you have mentioned. I would like to mention some points, but it could be more when you think of other factors also.
1. Savings difference from Petrol: If Ready cash payment you can get interest on the FD for the Saved portion amount. if it is the loan you have to pay only less interest payment against the loan settlement.
2. Everyone will sell the car after 5 years because of new models as per current trend: in this case, if a Petrol car for assume that a 5 lakh car you will get 3.2 Lakhs minimum, but for an electric car it could be 1.5 lakhs. So that difference should be counted for calculation.
3. Price of Electricity also will Shoot up in the future because of an increase in EV vehicles. So the rate will increase could be almost half of the petrol.


The only way to get some relief is mass production of EV cars and slowly the cost of vehicle parts will come down and thereby the price of Electric cars become a little cheap. Anyway you made a good workout but we need to consider all additions and the differences between EV and petrol become minor in the long run.

No need to replace entire battery if at all any problems comes after warranty . We can identify the damage cells and replace that cells only . And the life of the battery is more than 1500 charging cycle which is 3 Lakh plus km . So ideally one battery life can be considered as 15 year which is same as car life . By that time battery technology will be completely different .
