I know my yardage is. My drive is 175. Each of my irons go exactly 100 yards. 50 yard pitching wedge.
Can't seem to do any better than that.

Great advice.
The ball doesn’t care what club you hit It wants to be on the green help him out, get it there

To add to this, what really lowered my handicap into the single digits I’m at now is, if you can’t execute the shot 6 or 7 times out of ten, don’t try to hit it. Simplify your approach and you’ll have way less blow up holes.

Few years ago I was shooting in the mid to high 90's all the time. Picked up a golf GPS unit and started picking clubs for the back of the green yardage instead of the middle or pin yardage ... immediately shooting mid 80's.

I adopted this thought process this year, and went from hitting 25% of greens last year to 39% this year and went from an 18 to 11 handicap! So what if I’m hitting a 6 iron from 150! It works, and my scores are showing it!

I am a 5 handicap and I flush my irons maybe 6/10 times. Which makes club selection difficult. I played this morning and had 180 uphill, hit 5 iron which is a 190 club for me to allow for the uphill and flew it over the green into trouble behind, and had to take a penalty drop.

I think people need to take more notice of what’s the better miss short or long and go with that.

Huge tip that took me from 20+ to now 14HDCP in a year was play to a favorable spot on the green not a specific number. If the pin is middle, play back, middle, or short of it. If pin is front, play middle or back green. If pin is back, play short or middle. It’s not always about greens in regulation it’s about “puttable” in regulation.

So many clubs are completely different from each other, lofts and design being the most obvious. I've been fitted for everything from a 36 degrees 7i and hit it an average of 140yrds, then a 29 degrees 7i and hit it 180yrds! Then there's the ball and the individual hitting them, then the conditions at the time and how they're feeling on the day! I really wish that all manufacturers would at least state the loft on the club. I go to the range every time I buy new clubs, hit a heap of balls with each club, take the average and then write all of my lofts and my distances for them on the shafts with a marker pen, then sellotape over it to protect it. You memorise them over time, but it's a really good exercise to do.

Ego on the golf course is a score killer. Nothing wrong with hybrids, longer irons, etc. idc if you’re hitting wedge from 140, I’m certainly now lol

Also swing more controlled. I hurt my back and my game has never been better. Was playing high 90s low 100s now I am playing in the 80s
All it took was to not take my club back as far and have more control over the club face as a result

I'm getting old and have a bad back. It's really tough, but you just have to take your current yardages on the chin. Toughest is playing the same course and remembering where you used to drive to or playing an approach with a SEVEN that used to be a solid PW.

Yup, I use my 5 iron for 150, if I hit it lighter, I get it very good. Usually hit my driver anything over 200. But this works great!

great advice tbh...this is something I've done for years that I just recently started taking more club...the main thing is, play your game...know your clubs and you will be shocked with the results

I’ve played with those guys, trying to hit a wedge 160, I’m on with a 7 iron and their chipping to try and save par every time

it really comes down to how serious you are about your score. sometimes it’s just too much fun to try something ridiculous and hope it works out 😂🙌

It’s quite true but for some people it’s those wonder shots that make the round enjoyable.
