Stephen, as good as you are at drawing, I am even more impressed by your ability to explain the 'why' of what you've drawn.
Since I subscribed, my ability to render what I see has quickly and steadily improved. Thank you!

A veritable visual encyclopedia of the potential range and power of hatching effects. Very valuable for artists whatever the level of subjects they desire to tackle, from simple to complex!

I personally absolutely love the pen and ink hatching style. I'm always reminded of old R. Crumb illustrations. Also, in case it isn't obvious to everyone: you need a very thin pen to have good hatching.

Thanks! You say "what direction do I hatch in?" is the wrong question to ask, and then you explain what the direction to hatch in is.

What a wonderfully concise explanation of the fullness that is hatching. The piece at 8:18 and the next one are my new favorites! Thank you so much for sharing your techniques, while prompting the creativity within us. Much LOVE and BLESSINGS to you and yours.

Excellent video! I think where I struggle sometimes is when the perspective it's straight on but looking up, and you have a slight overhanging roof, it's deciding what direction the hatches should go in that example

Lots of great examples, thank you! In the house at about 5:30, you have solid lines across the front of the house demarcating the shadow/light seperation in addition to the cross hatching. It seems pretty effective for that drawing but is it good in general - is there a better (more organic looking) way to lay down the edge of a sharp shadow?

Stephen. I'd love to purchase your course but honestly a full year subscription of Class 101 is quite expensive, especially knowing that only part of that money will be directed to you. I'd be happy to pay a monthly sub while tackling your course but unfortunately that option is not available.
