If you want your oil paint to dry faster, i highly recommended buying Galkyd and mixing it into the paint prepared on your palette. My drying time went from over a month to become touch dry to touch dry within 1-2 days

Hi! Could you do a video on your top 10 tips for oil painting portraits?? As an oil painter, nature and water and trees have always been my fortè. I’m absolutely awful at portraits. I can never seem to get the proportions right which messes up the whole face, and I can also never seen to get the shadows and highlights right either. I’d honestly love if you’d do a full length video with portrait tips, that’d be awesome❤️

Thanks for confirming that you can paint on acrylics. I've been told by an art student that 'this ruins the oils' even though I heard about painting oils on top of acrylics a lot.
Personally, I never dared approached oils. Mostly because I don't have the space where I live, but also because of the materials you need to clean your brushes and such.

I’ve been using acrylics but I’m just not feeling them, especially for portraiture/figure work. I wanna make the jump to oils but I’m just so intimidated by them, particularly the use of the mediums.

I think its also worth mentioning that there are products you can mix into your oil paints to make them dry faster. I use galkyd and it takes the drying time down from a week to about 24 hours 😊

Before i knew about that stuff, i HATED oil paint. Now i love it. So give it a shot before you call it quits

Thin your paint to make it flow better, i thought that you had to thicken your paint to make it flow nice but you are supposed to thin it. Use linseed oil or walnut oil to make it flow better.

I think it’s a full year for oil paints to cure before final varnish. They can be varnished before then with removable varnish, though.

I do put oils over and under acrylics even water color and it turned out great but it can also be layerd there is no mistake in art and no rule
