Great talk. I stopped striving for "followers" and my work has really improved. I stopped feeling stressed about creating content just for likes

The idea of putting "stragegy" as a "firewall" between you and who-should-enjoy-Ur-work is really an excellent advice.

This video come out just when I started to look at myself, and decided to change how I approach content creation. I call it universe alignment

Great video. Being a creative is a never ending journey. That's the beauty of it. Sometimes the wind blows us in a wrong direction, so think about your roots to stand strong in the wind.

So true. I’ve learned the hard way about following likes. Years ago, I had made some beautiful work, that I wish I still had. It was good, looking back on it. Though at the time no one else “liked” it, and I destroyed my work. All because of what others said. What I wouldn’t do to be able take this advice and go back 10 years. Keep preaching the truth bother. I’ve learned that if I want it on my wall, then it’s art, if it’s art to me

Thinking this way helped a bunch last year. Creating for myself rather than for a reaction or a like. It’s important to listen to criticism as long as it’s constructive.

Got my 18Twenty6 hoodie in last week and you weren't joking about the quality. Can't wait for the next drop!

Interesting how you talked about how positive comments and feedback can be detrimental to your outlook on yourself and therefore what you put out! Having said that, great video as always Evan! Insightful topic to think about so I appreciate you for raising it.

That was unique. I love your perspective on this.
Being in YouTube and focusing on getting likes and subs for the sake of it hinders you and your work.
Striving for quality and improving yourself is what really indirectly brings likes and subs because people come for a video but stay for you.
Create content for the sake of having fun and improving. The rest will follow!

Such a great video and such a reflection and reminder for myself. On IG I've struggled (and still do) when I shifted from being a 100% food blogger with regular sponsored posts (now talk about entitlement and narcissism!) to now doing a mix of food (a necessary evil) and urban photography (my creative/artistic side).

It is a great social media experiment to see which types of content gets the most likes. Probably stating the obvious, number of likes and comments far exceed by 2:1 for food against urban. I've asked myself, should I ditch my creative urban photography and chase the likes and followers, or continue to show my creative photos and show what I can actually achieve.

Great advice . But can we talk about how your videos are now way more cinematic . I know thats not a mistake its intentional to add a certain mood with the Blues, greens, orange etc.
Really nice job setting the mood and cinematic vibes . Every video is engaging in new ways . Thanks Mike

wow, youtube needs more conscious content like this. brilliant move to tackle the mental side, it certainly is a struggle for artists
