What is the recovery time for Brain Aneurysm? - Dr. Tejus MN Rao

The recovery of patients from ruptured brain intracranial brain aneurysms are depending upon the severity of the bleed and it also depends upon the general condition of the patients. If the patient has very severe bleed, then they may be in ICU or ventilator for a long time. So on an average the recovery time for a patients with ruptured aneurysm is 2 to 3 weeks. At our centers, in patients with minor bleed, due to intracranial ruptured aneurysm or treated with intravascular coiling and we have sent patients on second day or third day also. The other method of treatment of intracranial aneurysm is craniotomy, which is opening the bone and exposing the brain and we clip these aneurysms. The recovery time in patients in whom craniotomy is done is little prolonged than in intravascular coiling because the ICU stay is little longer in these patients.

I had 3 aneurysms burst over 3 days we were in Spain I had 2 small ones and a large one deep in my head I was very lucky I was in hos and hubby with me when the large one burst I was on op table when I took the stroke iv been very lucky I’m able to walk and talk but not as well my balance and coordination is a bit off and tiredness iv now got neuropathy in my tongue and lips but I can manage iv been very lucky I was on life support 3 days my heart nearly stopped 1:29 1:29

Thank you doctor. It is really informative video. My mother treated with aneurysm by clipping before 3 years in Mumbai . But still some days she is having really bad headache. Is it normal.. ? Dr. plz suggest us corrective treatment further.. 🙏
