Straight Talk's New 100GB Mobile Hotspot Plan on Verizon for $50/mo (also for Tablets)

Straight Talk, a prepaid subsidiary owned by Verizon under their Tracfone brand, quietly introduced a new mobile hotspot plan recently. It is also available for tablets.

With 100GB of data for $50/month, it is significantly more compelling than any previous Straight Talk data plan.

While it's a very flexible prepaid option with refill options, it does have some downsides.

Y is Verizon dictating to me how I use my 100 GB. I can use it with 5 devices or 1, it's my choice. My allotted data is 100 gb. It's so dumb that everyone is moving away from Verizon.

If you use the Franklin hotspot connect a router to the ethernet port, can you connect more devices?

Im tired of all the cellular companies deriving value from the throw of a single bit for hotspot service. My unlocked finally paid for phone makes a better hotspot than the hotspot only device.

Question.. I'm interested in purchasing this for a friend who is currently living in a Motel. He wants it basically for streaming movies and shows, and playing PlayStation. No online gaming, just what is required to have Internet access...
Would this be a good fit??
And if you reload your data, does it add on or just top off??

Maybe a travel router to repeat the signal can be the one device connected to it?

PLEASE HELP if you can. OK you say a cellular enabled tablet. I have an iPad Pro and it can get 5G but I have never set it up with any carrier. So my question for straight talk is do I buy the tablet Sim or do I buy a cellular Sim or are they the same? We are part time RVers and we just want to use my 12.9” screen for maps and other such things.

so the $50 4g hotspot at the store is bad? Yeah, the hotspot box says connect up to 16 devices....sneaky small print?

Would you say the device being older is a big deal? I’m looking for at least 100gb to play video games while traveling and this deal seems good to me. If you say it’s all good I’ll get it, I just don’t want to buy something that is slow and sucks! Thanks!

If it’s a prepaid plan, then it shouldn’t be a monthly plan. Pay $50 and get 100GB that doesn’t expire in 30 days would be better.

The real problem with these plans is not the amount of data, but our data being cloud based. Every time your phone or tablet connects, it sends data into the cloud and downloads data out of the cloud. That is a lot of data that runs passively in the background. That’s why data limits need to be even higher at reasonable prices. I’d say at least 200gb for those $50

So basically it's not worth the 50$ I'd save over my current 150GB/mo plan with Verizon since the Unlimited portion is so slow it's useless. Don't get me wrong, 600kbps still sucks but at least by being patient and tempering my expectations I can actually still browse the web. At 2G (50kbps) most pages and apps simply refuse to load.

So after 100gbs is used up you still get 2g speed

Always a hassle just to refill an existing line. Why would I buy any other products.. someone needs to get off the boat and go to work..

Not going to happen this is by far the very stupid data plan I pay for a service for internet and I am limited to their devices come on now why would I buy that there's a lot better options out there matter of fact just about any option is better than that
