Welcome to The Wisdom of Odin! I’m Jacob Toddson, and I created this channel to explore ancient wisdom and spiritual practices from around the world. My journey began with Norse Paganism, and now I travel globally, uncovering knowledge on historical religions, shamanism, plant medicines, and various spiritual paths. Together, we explore how these ancient teachings can inspire and guide us toward a more balanced and meaningful future.

On this channel, I aim to foster unity and understanding across spiritual traditions, beyond boundaries of race, sexuality, gender, or politics. You’ll find an inclusive, open-minded space free from divisive content, drama, and bias. Join me as we discover and share the timeless wisdom that can heal and uplift us all.

Odin sent a messenger to speak to me when I was going to jump off a building. I am forever followed by ravens and feel his wisdom. I am indebted to the Allfather, who taught me self worth. There is great wisdom in pain. Skal

I expect everyone knows there’s a new Asatru temple in Iceland. The first one to be built for a thousand years

I've been pagan for over 40 yrs. Your 5 things are great. We grow up and become adults and those of us who stick to our beliefs, and our practices really do lead our houses in wisdom and love. We shouldn't come to crave the emotional highs (although they are amazing), but instead treasure the quiet moments of rest & reflection, it is there the learning is, the comfort and the "knowing".

I've was raised Christian, and I never gotten anything out of it. I got into learning more about Norse close to a year ago and I got to say I'm liking the feelings I get when I go further and further into it. I'm still learning, and I'm going to continue my journey

For the record, Einar Selvik of Wardruna specifically says he does not consider his music to be 'Viking music' and doesn't relate much to the Viking age, more so to the Bronze Age and Iron Age. At the same time he doesn't try to recreate historically accurate music, but to have really good academic understanding of the roots and then grow from them. I really like his perspective as it is how I live my life.

I like his acoustic music, but did associate him with the modern 'Viking style' the way I was introduced to Wardruna by someone who considered the selfm a Viking and gained so much respect for him after I heard that interview.

Today I decided I wanted to know more about Norse paganism and found your channel. Your content is honest and genuine. I often times found myself smiling and nodding in agreement, and inspired to put more effort into my own journey, so thank you 😊

I was considering converting because the Christian God was never there for me like my family and how they described, but having second thoughts because I was so unsure that I'd be accepted, rejected because "I'm not enough, " but I felt him in a dream. It was faint and I heard a small voice and I couldn't see him. He said to follow a path of my choosing, to follow the breeze and see where it lands me. I'm still extremely new to this, but from that point on I was sure. I'm still confused about a lot of things and I'm still learning, but I'm glad I'm here because things get better little by little.

I grew up christrian, as life went on I felt a connection to Thor, I always saw ravens and black birds more then any bird. They used to follow me when I was a kid, my mother used to always tell me to only kill the black birds and ravens and crows. Never actually did though. Now I see them more then ever since converting, staring at me, talking to me, following me, I feel Odin and Thor and Freya all the time. But never have actually saw or felt the christrian god, I really tried and it just wasn't the path I was meant to walk.

thank you so much for making this video. you really explain things well without criticizing or saying “don’t do this or that” and i think that’s very helpful, so again, thank you very much!

The one thing I wish I knew was how hard it was to separate myself from the Abrahamic belief. It’s difficult and takes time. The fact we are told do what we say or go to hell and the fear it instills is rough. But once one breaks through and truly touches nature and community makes everything so much easier.

I just want to tell you thank you. I’m an American and live in Florida, but my relatives are from Denmark and Norway (my maternal great grandparents immigrated from Oslo to NYC) and my mothers side of the family has always practiced very small amounts of Asatru, so I grew up around this. Unfortunately as a teen I began to detach myself from that but now as an adult I’m slowly finding my way back to the gods, my roots and my ancestors. I have never felt more certain about anything before. I have never felt more at peace than when I felt the all father and Freyja for the first time. Your videos have helped me tremendously during my journey. I have learned so much about my faith thanks to you. Thank you for making this platform and a safe haven for heathens. Skål to all my brothers and sisters!

You hit the nail on the head with the consumer World we live in. Our ancestors had no distractions from their beliefs, meditation was I guess like the video game of the day, if you get me same with hunting. The reality of it is more and more people are becoming spiritually awakened.

I've seen a lot of your videos but this one resonated much deeper than the rest. The bit about community and the folk aspect and leaving your mark, leaving a legacy, I've been striving for that most of my life. I've had many friends and Friends tell me that they were inspired to do this or that because they knew my story, they knew where I came from and where I am now. This, to me, is the purpose of our being here; not to consume and become indebted, as you said, but to light the way for others, to have our names be the thing that stirs courage and gives them steel in their spines and fire in their hearts.
Truly, thank you for this channel.

Just tonight a norse friend ive had for about a few months talked with me about following this path as well. I'm christian and have always been fascinated by vikings and the likes, so finding out that was his faith got us into a lot of hourlong talks and I decided to go inform myself and maybe give it a try. This video was really helpful and encouraging, thank you so much for it!

WARNING, LONG COMMENT

When I first started learning about this faith, I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not, but there was a guy a met who identified as a Norse Pagan, and one line he said always sticks with me is, "Breadcrumbs man, breadcrumbs". What he meant was that when I started researching and learning, everything I learned always led to something knew. I never believed in Magic and Mysticism, but after a few weeks I had a dream, in what seemed like only a breif moment, a woman stood before me, golden hair, glowing, and I was stunned, she reached out to me for only a second and I woke up. I couldn't tell you if she was a Valkyrie, if she was Freya herself, I don't know. I dont even remember what she was wearing, if anything. What I do know is i woke up, heart racing, tears in my eyes, but with this overwhelming sense of pure certainty, and that's when I knew I was on the right path. I don't think my friends believe me when I tell them this story, but i know it, in my heart, to be true. Even as i type this I can feel myself getting emotional.
Sorry for the long comment, just wanted to share that 😊
