I must not be a classic PCOS case because I was diagnosed with irregular periods at age 15. Never ovulated in my life. Got on bc. It made my periods regular like clock work down to the hour. I got off bc 13 years later to get pregnant. And my cycle started out 58 days then dropped to 45 days (regular) but I wasn’t ovulating. My fertility doctor told me any longer than 35 days you won’t ovulate. I got on clomid no luck (2 rounds) zero follicles. Femara boom 💥 1 follicle.and ovulate cd 18 Trigger 💥 bfp at 9dpo Pregnant that same month! I’m now 14 weeks. Due with my first baby in March. 😊

I was diagnosed with PCOS in my teens w/o having ever been on the pill. I was diagnosed in my teens & have had irregular, heavy bleeding ( like 7 days, 2 night pads per day heavy) since I started having periods. I also have faint but almost noticeable facial hair. I decided to go to the OB when my ER Doc recommended me to as I had a case of severe abdominal pain with spotting that caused me to go to the ER. I also had severe Acne that no topical medication could treat during that time period. My OB told me to get an ultrasound and lo and behold, I had the classic PCOS ovaries. So I ticked all the boxes, ✅ Irregular periods, ✅Androgen signs (Acne/Facial hair), ✅ Polycystic ovaries. I went on the pill and now my periods have been regular and manageable but I do become irregular after at least 2 months off the pill. The only thing is that the reason I was not diagnosed earlier despite me talking about my irreg periods to my GP was bc I am conventionally "thin" so there is kind of a stereotype that only overweight people get PCOS which is totally not true.

how does it manifest in patients who weren't on the pill (or any kind of hormonal contraaceptive) in the first place?
