About 12 years ago a coworkers Golden got out and was bred by her neighbors black lab. I got one of the puppies and he is the most gentle almost to a fault dog i’ve ever had. Very intelligent but just such a loving gentle dude.

I was so excited to find your channel Will. I currently have an Amazing 8 year old Black Lab and have decided now would be the perfect time to share our home with a new Lab puppy. I thought your knowledge and content would be a nice fit. I then noticed that you haven't posted in 2 months. I'm hoping your just taking a break and I will see you soon.

Reminds me of the film, Old Yella. A classic family film that showcases the character, spirit, and versatility of the Labrador Retriever. Had a black one, and can vouch for it as a super dog. You need the working lineage. Full of spirit, and go. If you were to colonize a new planet, and could take only one breed, the Labrador Retriever would be that breed that would promise to fulfill the success of man's best friend, in the universe. They are that, all round good. Good natured, with a zest for life, and adventure, always, by wanting to share the joys of life with their human companions.

I had a long conversation with a reputable Field Spaniel breeder in Denmark. They are superb at adapting as long as the owner is with them and have a great on/off switch. They can be inside with you all day relaxing or in the great outdoors all day. Field Spaniels are around the same size as a border collie.

Thanks Will Atherton, for all these helpful information!
I wished to have a bichon frisé for decades. Turns out after talking with dog owners and googling - Bichons are the perfect breed for me.
Max the havanese puppy is coming to live with me in 2 days time. He is my first doggie.

I could take my border collie anywhere, along with my cattle dog/shepard. I have a golden/Aussie shepard...he gets extremely upset travelling; he calms down when we get back home.

Truly enjoy your videos and perspective. Would love a video on the Airedale Terrier. Thanks from the US!

We tend to look after friends dogs when they go on holiday; hosted a poodle (small, well behaved at home, but not good around other dogs -probably socialisation issues more than anything). We have looked after a greyhound (very calm and relaxed after a small amount of exercise), a lurcher / saluki cross (generally good, but easily gets bored and clearly missed their family hugely when they were away) and we currently have a Vizla with us for a week; I was expecting her to be more of a handful due to the nature of the breed, but she is so polite and well mannered - a little bit of lead pulling and some whimpering when I am working at home and can't give her the attention she needs, but such a beautifully behaved dog. I guess it comes down to how they have been trained and socialised more than anything as Will always, rightly, says.

Cockers (English) are underrated— super trainable, small but sturdy and gorgeous

I had a Kelpie/Cocker Spaniel cross in my late teens. He was great everywhere except one place.... Watching me play rugby. Anytime anyone tried to tackle me he'd go nuts and try to attack the tackler/s. Other than that little foible he was great out and about anywhere and loved everyone.

Love your channel bro. I own a bullmastiff/rottie. And I am thankful to be able to do anything with him. Be it my dog is very balanced and good in all situations. However

How about the English Toy Terrier? I’m super biased here because I love my miniature Doberman 😂, but we brought him everywhere. He’s a hiking machine and he’s not scared of even pretty challenging mountain hikes. Well pretty challenging for me anyway. We saw other bigger dogs having a hard time while our little rascal was just powering through like a champ. 😂

Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹!

The correct answer is a jack Russell. Not those things youve got .
