If I reset to factory it shouldn't just automatically reconnect to my PlayStation right? I checked just to be sure and it connected back to my PlayStation with no cable

Figured it out!!
Disconnect it from your laptop/pc in bluetooth setting by uninstalling.
Then delete ds4 and all its files from yur laptop/pc.
Turn off bluetooth on yur laptop/pc.
Then, reset your ps4 controller at the back withba pin.
Finally, use a different micro usb cable and plug it into different ports on the ps4 if it’s still not working.
Worked for me!! Upvote so people can try this combination of method!!

Left stick drift. I tried another un-invasive (meaning not opening up) first and it appeared to help somewhat.. about a week and never being a noticeable complete fix. I tried the fix on this channel and can't say I see any improvement on my end. Of course, everyone's issue can be different. I just wanted to provide some feedback.

Thank you, this worked when nothing else did! My controller spontaneously stopped connecting. It would get a brief orange light when connecting vie USB. Using the reset button many times didn't work. Using the share + PS button wasn't enough. It appears the key might be turning off your wireless router and your ps4. Then simply resetting the controller was enough for the controller to turn on the console.

YES! Thank you for this tutorial. I now have my controller back. I always knew about the little button on the back of the DualShock but I only pressed it for 2 seconds. Never tried 10

how does it "reset" by pressing for 3~10 secs ? no sound, or light indiaction

It worked I had paired my controller to my phone for remote play and after that it wouldn’t connect to the ps4. But when the controller was reset it worked. Also if it still doesn’t work I would recommend using a different usb cable.

My problem: Pressing my x button, kept opening up the menu(options) for me. I disconnected my controller, via the main ps screen, it took awhile(to get to disconnect bluetooth conroller) because the x button was wonky. Held down reset button for 10-15
