First, shoutout to Kiehl's for sponsoring this video!

Damaged skin barriers are common in the winter and when using too many products in a routine. Try to back off irritating ingredients for a few weeks and focus on hydration and protection! Less is more :)

This is SO TRUE. I have had sensitive skin almost for my entire life (33yr) until about 2 years ago when I started to ONLY wash my face ONCE a day. My skin condition DRASTICALLY improved. No acnes, no redness, no whatsoever …

I used proactive for so many years that I’ve never actually know what it feels like to have a skin barrier!!! I switched to different gel, CeraVe cleanser, and The Ordinary moisturizer and I’m SHOOK! What and incredible difference having a barrier makes!

Yep, this is what I have started to do. Whenever it feels irritated or dry I stop using every thing and just use moisturizer

It’s amazing how our skin can actually heal itself. This helped my skin a lot.

God bless you! I can not believe it… My skin around my eyes is so irritating and red, that I was just waking up looking for something to improve it and heal it. Thank you!

Purito Centella Unscented Recovery Cream and serum are also helpful when your skin barrier is damaged.

I think Vanicream Moisturizing Cream would do just as good—or better—as the Kiehl’s Cica Cream for a fraction of the price! Kiehls is a whopping $44 for just 1.7 oz, whereas a 16 oz pump jar of Vanicream is just $13.56 at Walmart! And the Vanicream is backed by a lot of science, and was developed by Mayo Clinic physicians.

The whole Vanicream line is designed for super sensitive skin and is extremely hydrating. Their ointment spreads like soft butter and is very soothing to irritated skin.

When this happened to me I used a thick coat of cerave healing ointment every night and it worked like a charm.

Omg I’m glad I came across this because I’ve been continuing adapalene on my damaged skin and wondering why it was not healing!

Word of the day: madecassoside. I learn something new every day with Doctorly 😎

Dr.Shah can you do the "Do you want to Bamba" challenge? You know while educating us about dermatology 😇 🤞🏻(I saw a dentist doing it in a short and I'm like Dr.Shah would be awesome doing the challenge too!!!)🕺

Aww you applied it so gently. I get so impatient doing my skincare that instead of smoothing it out or patting it in, I basically administer a series of high speed slaps for faster absorption.

This is exactly what i did. When my skin felt irritated I just cleanser, moistures with a simple unscented moisturiser and sunscreen in the morning that’s for like a week

I had a damaged skin barrier due to destroying my skin when I was younger with harsh scrubs and products. I used cerave cleanser and moisturizer and it has helped so much.
