I'm. ready for the show! Anson Mount is an excellent choice for Pike, in my opinion. He was brilliant in the series Hell on Wheels.

looks like some good stuff coming up next year with this and Picard.

This is probably a standard contract thing. They typically write contracts for actors for 3-7 years, and with the enthusiasm they have gotten, a second season is almost guaranteed.

Greetings Capt. Jack, and everyone at Trek Central, I am very much looking forward to Strange New World's, Season 2 of Picard and Star Trek Discovery, along with Lower Decks, and Star Trek Prodigy. Anson Mount is one of few actors I've watched since AMC's Hell On Wheels, and I am so glad all of this Star Trek goodness is coming our way, and in the comics IDW's Star Trek Next Generation's Mirror War, and the various book series as well, that's all for now, everyone at Trek Central and more fans, please keep the hailing frequencies open and eyes on your north stars and more, until next time, signing off for now, Audie for now and safe journeys, laughter in the upcoming holidays .

Every Trek in this new Era has been a success. IMO, it's a good bet that SNW will be a success aswell.

If the 90's was the Golden Age of Trek we are now in the Platinum Era! I am so happy that we have so many shows that are all so different from one another. 🖖💖

I was hoping to see the return of Jose Tyler, the navigator from the Cage. His character biography described him as “the son of a Boston astronomer father and Brazilian mother, is boyishly handsome, still very much in the process of maturing. An unusual combination, he has inherited his father's mathematical ability. José Tyler, in fact, is a phenomenally brilliant mathematician and space theorist. But he has also inherited his mother's Latin temperament”.
This description of “Latin temperament” may be dated, sexist, and stereotypical, but there is indeed a cultural contrast between North American “Anglo” and South American “Latin” cultures. It would be interesting to see this character developed in a fashion which further acknowledges that future Earth is multi-cultural, and also provide a vehicle to highlight a potential inner tension of being a person from a multicultural family background, where the restrained nature of the Anglo family side is dramatically balanced by the expressiveness of his Latin family side. This is even more unique as his mother is Brazilian, where Portuguese is the spoken language. So here we can see a more in depth analysis that “Latin” culture which is very much a catch all term which describes a whole host of Spanish and Portuguese colonial remnants. The distinctness of varies Equatorial and South America cultures is hardly ever expanded on in American productions, and each is unique in its own right. Seems like a lot of material to explore in terms of character development.

I was also hoping to see the return of “the character” Dr. Boyce. While I have no problem with the current casting of the Doctor on the new series, I did like the dynamics between Pike and Boyce, almost (in private anyway) where Boyce is kind of mentor or confidant to Pike as a man who’s has more in his rear view mirror than in front of him. He doesn’t come out and “tell” Pike what’s the best approach, but he does subtly advise him with some of his real world wisdom and perspective.

I am looking forward more to strange new worlds season 1 than am to season 2 of Picard. The whole time travel premise of Picard s2 just turns me off. I dont want to see them screwing around in the past i want to see whats happening in the wider galaxy after the end of Picard s1. I mean what happened in Star Fleet when it turned out the head of Star Fleet security was a freaking Romulan spy that helped cause the destruction of mars and the ban of synthetic life forms. There are still tons of questions that need to be answered.

It's cute you think they are concerned about not contradicting TOs

I gave up on Picard and Discovery - I really didn't like them - and I'm kind of hoping they approach this series very differently than the other 2. I'm done with the gore, the darkness, the lack of hope and how broken all the characters are, the f-bombs, the slow pacing of the plot, the annihilation of canon, unlikeable characters, the awful choice in captain, the one-sided propaganda, the mistreatment and disrespect to male crew members, the lack of professionalism, etc. I can go on and on.

I'm fine with sci-fi shows like Discovery existing, but I just don't know why it had to be "Star Trek" when they blatantly didn't care about Star Trek or its prior audience at all. I just wish they made a new franchise all together, and I'd have no issue with them telling whatever stories they wanted. When you make a "Star Trek" show, I honestly expect it to check a certain number of boxes so that I feel welcome and can enjoy the show. Instead, I just felt like I was disrespected and even attacked through the writing - completely alienated me.
