I owned a petrol Wagon R for 5 years and the meter read 12000 km. The running was 2000 per yr average. Petrol makes sense if you have low running. Very good analysis.

Hi Pranjal. Thanks for such a detailed video. We must also take into consideration the manufacturing process of Lithium Ion Batteries. While running an EV vehicle there is no pollution but it had already made a lot of pollution during manufacturing of the Lithium Ion battery.
CNG is better than EV and pure petrol. Milage=25 Km/Kg - 30 Km/Kg.
Another eco-friendly option is Hydrogen Vehicle(Green Hydrogen).

@Pranjal Thanks for the great comparison. Just an additional point of comparison should have been the loan that we take while buying cars. Since in EV govt. provides tax rebate on loan interest.

Doesn't hybrid has disadvantages of both, high maintenance because of engine and other moving parts and battery cost?

@Pranjal.. completely new perspective and wonderful analysis. Two points:- One... The 3.3 lacs capital saving of petrol car can earn interest for 1 year. In second year residual saving would be rs. 2.6 lacs for ONE year, not two as you mentioned and 3rd year capital savings of rs. 1.9 lacs is again to be taken for ONE year and not three. No. Two point....I am told with two types of power generation, that is petrol engine & elec. motor repair and maintenance cost of hybrid will be higher than both, right?

Excellent comparision! One thing to note is that in the next 2 yrs or so range anxiety would away with next gen batteries n 500km+ range n fast charging of <5hrs would become the norm. Who knows where petrol prices will go (probably up 😅)

Together with range anxiety their is a pleasant feeling of trips costing less money every day, I end up going on more drives further away, only having to spend more time and not money in any one trip .

Very good analysis. You may also consider registration cost. In some states, Registration charges are waived for EV.

I think you also need to consider major repairs and parts replacements in petrol car and importantly assuming petrol price will remain constant is a big mistake, just in recent past we’ve paid up to 125 ₹ per liter and probability of it going even higher is there. Like wise even the probability of battery price reduction by 50% or more is very possible.
I don’t say it’s accurate but it’s a probability as you were predicting 😊

Good notes buddy 👍
Also take into account reducing range in EV which I've experienced in my REVA; range keeps dipping 15% every year

Very well done in terms of analysis. Two points missed in terms of cost comparison. First rising petrol price, it will go 200 surely in near terms. Secondly reduction of value of battery due to mass production. Now comes polution aspect, we all shift to ev, what are the initiatives to gauge the inpact of batteries being after replacement.
