This is literally me RIGHT NOW. I have a different app for every single productivity task I do and I'm at the point where I'm thinking about just using all native apple products for everything (notes and reminders). The problem isn't the apps, it's ME.

This reminds me of how I came to rely on using Apple Calendar. I tried everything, the bullet journal, paper and pen, online planners, paper planners, nothing worked well. But the Calendar app works anytime, every time. And it’s synced across all my Apple devices. The time blocks are colorful, and I can see at a glance which days in a month have stuff to do. And I can set recurring events with ease. Just use what’s best for your workflow

Was a Notability/NOTION/GoodNotes junkie. Went back to the basics with Apple Notes (and calendar). The joy of having all my info carry across my iPhone, iPad, macbook pro and mac mini was worth it. Never have to worry about not having all my info on ALL my devices. Been a Mac user for 40 years almost and still learning new things. Great video. Thank you.

BRO!! YOU ARE SPITTING SUCH FACTS!!!! I was feeling I need Notion because a Youtuber I listen to often is using it. And I'm like... why do I need Notion when I have Apple Notes and GoodNotes?? So thank you for this video! LOL! Because I don't feel like watching a bunch of Notion videos on how to make a note and organize it.... when I do that already in Apple Notes.
Keeping it simple is KEY! Love this!

Nice video. Totally agree. For me, switching apps was also a form of procrastination. Setting up new apps feels like taking action, when really, I'm just delaying getting things done. Better to just stick to one thing and get it together. Another benefit of Apple Notes is longevity. One thing about all these new apps is you have no idea when things will no longer be supported. The risk of Apple going defunct before all these new apps is close to zero, so I don't have to worry about my data potentially being lost. Which is why I just use native Apple apps for everything. One thing I wish Apple would do though, is integrate Reminders into the Calendar app, the way Google Cal has to do's at the top of each day. Strange that they haven't added that yet.

I have an android, a laptop and an ipad, relying on apple notes is not an option for the majority of people who doesnt always own apple devices and prefer others. Thats why I use notion

Loved this video. I now use Notion as a wikipedia for my work & personal stuff. I tried to use it for daily planning & note taking but it was just too bulky for that. Now, I use apple notes for note taking & microsoft to-do for daily planning. Best combo imo!

Sorry if this sounds rude, but putting your tasks in a notes app is a really bad idea. Using each tool for what it was designed for is a basic principle of organization and simplicity. It's not about making it complex, it's about doing it the right way. A practical example: if I have a task to do exactly on February 19th (today is February 2nd), the notes app would certainly end up making me forget about it, or I would have to write a lot more to understand days and times. In the end, it would be more complex than a simple task app, as well as less efficient. It wouldn't even work for a basic organization, only considering dates. Imagine with different projects. It's simple: notes app for notes and tasks app for tasks. No excess organization, categorization, etc. Simple, but the right way.

As I have an Android phone and a Windows PC, I chose OneNote. Which is it's very easy to use, plus those from Windows Sticky Notes are also synced to OneNote so that I can read it through my phone.

I was just watching a bunch of vids on using Apple Notes. This was one of the best because of the "getting things done" mindset and all of the great quotes. I hopped around between note-taking apps for years on my Mac, but am settled on Notes now!

Very much common sense and back to basics. I have been flabbergasted by the incredible volume of blogs, podcasts, and YouTube videos that try to tell us that we need to switch to yet another app to get our notes right and our productivity up. I wonder how many people spend most of their time just trying out new apps (of which we don't know will they exist a year from now), and switching to and fro between apps: "Why I switched from X to Y", "Why I went back from Y to X", etc. The native Apple apps have been developing in the right direction for years now and have functionality that advanced subscription-based apps lack. Rather than switching to another app because the Apple native app lacks something, it is probably much wiser to just wait for Apple to upgrade (and perhaps give them a hint about what you expect their apps to do next).

I am a visual person, and the thing that holds me back from using Apple Notes as my one and only note-taking app is the default font which is very hard to read. As a user, I cannot change the default. I can only change the font once I have written the note. That's why I still have one (basically free) other note-taking app besides Apple Notes.

Another point: I wonder why you use Apple Notes for task management. Apple has Reminders, which is an advanced reminder and task management that competes well with Todoist, Things 3, and many other premium todo apps. My experience is that the combination of four native Apple apps: Calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Reminders, makes for an invincible team, particulary since they work together so well. It actually makes me wonder why people spend so much time trying out other paid apps and migrating data many times over, when it would be so much more productive to just fine-tune the combination of native apps that Apple offers.

A big thank you, Shree Nadkarni, for such a sane – be it countercultural – advice. Looking forward to more of your videos!

I really like OneNote, mostly because I use a Windows PC and laptop for work, but it works just as well on Apple devices using native apps. I find it's much better at clipping web content. I also often import PDF documents that I want to markup and highlight, which works great on my iPad with the Apple Pencil. It works seamlessly between Apple and Windows environments natively, without having to use it in a web browser (although you can if you have to). And I find it's much easier to organize content into notebooks, tabs, and sections. There's also a feature that I really like where it can import your meeting details from Outlook directly into a note.

thanks man, I have an open head and always searching for 'the new thing' and end up wasting a ton of time and sometimes money for something I never needed to even think about. So your video helped ground me.

Thank you. I have spent the past two weeks trying to learn Notion because of its popularity and aesthetic. I had a feeling that Notion was not the solution for me at this time and this video confirmed it. Simple systems = More Likely to be used.

Honestly, I just use notion for 3 reasons
1. It runs on all my devices and OSs (windows, mac, linux, android)
2. I'm a huge fan of the / commands, it's like having simplified markdown
3. I got used to it!
I don't use it to plan everything nor as a journal/reading list/home, I just take simple notes with the comfort of slash commands and cloud sync

Brother, this video is a eye opener for me 🙏. Subscribed your channel.
I wasted more than 1 year switching apps ☹, I wish i got this video before .
Watching youtubers using Notion, i used notion,
Watch others using obsidian, i used obsidian,
Watching others using logseq, i used logseq,
Moved so many apps and wasted my time thinking i will use the best of the best apps and i ended in full chaos wasting lots of time.
Your video has helped me understand that simplicity is the best thing. I will now use apple notes for rest of my life which is simple, fast and syncs well in the apple ecosystem.
Million thanks to you for helping people like me 🙏
