REALITY of IIM Admissions & RESERVATIONS in India | IIM Possible @ 40 percentile ?? OBC | SC | ST

Welcome to The IIM Guy channel.

Is IIM Possible at 40 percentile?

As of the last update in September 2021, I can provide you with information on the general admission process and reservation policy in Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for various categories including OBC (Other Backward Classes), SC (Scheduled Castes), and ST (Scheduled Tribes). However, please keep in mind that admission processes and policies can evolve over time, so it's essential to verify the most recent information from official sources or the respective IIM websites.

Admission Process:
The admission process for IIMs usually involves the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is a national-level management entrance exam. CAT is conducted by one of the IIMs on a rotational basis. Shortlisted candidates based on CAT scores are then required to go through a rigorous selection process, which typically includes Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The final selection is based on a combination of CAT scores, performance in the selection rounds, academic records, work experience, and other factors.

Reservation Policy:
The Government of India has implemented a reservation policy in educational institutions, including IIMs, to provide opportunities to students from historically marginalized communities. The reservation policy is as follows:

Other Backward Classes (OBC): OBC candidates are eligible for a certain percentage of reserved seats in IIMs. The reservation percentage for OBC candidates varies from state to state, as it is based on the population of OBCs in each state.

Scheduled Castes (SC): SC candidates are eligible for a certain percentage of reserved seats. The reservation percentage for SC candidates is usually higher than that of OBC candidates.

Scheduled Tribes (ST): ST candidates are eligible for a certain percentage of reserved seats, which is generally higher than that of SC candidates.

Requesting every youtubers who are delivering information regarding IIM, please mention that cracking CAT, getting IIM is very different from taking placement from IIM. At the time of placement ur background matters a lot.

Hi Sir! I am a little confused about how should I target and prepare for these exams. CAT's syllabus is not as wide spread since we don't have to deal with critical reasoning, grammar etc. I am extremely passionate about MICA and will surely give MICAT and XAT (backup for CAT to apply to top B schools). I was thinking about SNAP and NMAT as well but I have started to think is it the right way to go or I will be all over the place as I will have to appear for exams every 5-6th day? (my schedule will get jam packed in Dec and Jan).
