PET Filament Machine

Machine to transform strip from PET bottle to filament for 3D printer.

Components:
• Thermostat with K type thermocouple
• 50W Cartridge Heater
• Fan 5015
• DC Motor Speed Controller
• Gear Reduction Motor with 8mm diameter and 25mm length D-shape shaft, 6 or 10 rpm

Let the filament pass over a rubber roller before going onto the spool. You can measure the rotations/speed at which the roller spins and therefor calculate the filaments winding speed, will help to keep the diameter more consistent

Mira, where can i find the thermostat that reads higher temps, i bought one that appears like yours but it only reads 50 to 120 degree c. can't find one that reads the higher temps. Thanks Reno

Hi, very neat build! I have a question though: it looks like you are using the rotational speed (and thus tension) of the reels to control the diameter of the final filament. Won’t the tension change as the diameter of the reels increase with filament piling up?

Shouldn’t there be a windlass type mechanism to make sure the pulling speed is constant?
