The new MacBook Air looks like the perfect laptop for portability. Really glad it’s even lighter than the previous Air. Now all we need is a 15” version.

Mac Pro isn’t delayed. They sell to actual PRO users, who integrate into a complex stack of hardware and software. The lifecycle of true pro hardware is longer. Apple is giving maximum time for the rest of the pieces to be there when they reveal…

I have to admit, I was absolutely dying when I saw the Craig Federhigi clip where he was running. Hair Force One in full effect! That said, I want a new Air. For a desktop, I just got my Mac Studio and I think that'll suffice for the next few years for me.

I would’ve loved a 13 inch MacBook Pro that has all the same features as the new air but with the upgraded display from the 14 inch. Instead we got the same old recycled chassis

Just glad, they didn’t go with the white keys and borders. In my opinion, black keys just look more professional.

Apple is underselling M2 the 50% higher memory bandwidth and increased cache in itself should give you 20% cpu boost actual performance taking into account other factors will be around 30%.

My memory is a bit fuzzy but when I went to buy a MacBook Air last year and loaded it up with $400 of upgrades, it cost less than $1, 800 like this one does. If bumping up a mac under $2, 000 to do pro level work didn’t add $400 EVERY TIME it wouldn’t be so bad. But why pay over a thousand to begin with if your going to be stuck at 8 gigs of ram and a tiny hard drive? Last years model with the upgrades closer to current retail prices is a sane choice. Paying $400 over retail to get a better non bottlenecked system is just getting old at this point.

Apple are charging too much.
In Australia the M1 is $1499 = $1076 USD
The new M2 is $1899 = $1363 USD

We are virtually paying $400 more in any currency. Its complete bullshit.

Still MacBook Pro 13" with M2 is powerful, incredible battery, very good looking and still lightweight. Plus it has Touch Bar, you can hate it, but other are loving it. One colleague want to order it because he loves Touch Bar and 1 month ago a my costumer ordered one for the same reason: battery and Touch Bar

I'm so relived that you were wrong about those white bezels, and worse, white notch. Those products looked awful. That being said, it kind of sucks that both of the USB-C ports are still on the same side, next to each other.

The fact that it still doesn’t have usb c on both side is a dealbreaker for me, this could have been a one device on the go solution for all purpose that’s minimalistic, thin and light. Now i have to deal with benty wire and think about desk position

And that this is a fresh redesign, meaning that they will stick with this design for at least a handful of generations to come, and mac isn’t even on a yearly release schedule. That means waiting is also not an option :(

Edit: and it is not helping that the m1 MacBook Air is now like 250usd cheaper than the new one where I am at, if I am gonna be making the same compromise i might just get the old one, if I am getting one at all

I have the M1 MacBook Pro 13inch and it’s a dream. Found it weird that they kept the same and upgraded it to M2. However with 2 extra cores and a better battery it’s now a another choice and cheaper than the 14inch Pro model. How much of a difference is the 10 core M2 now in the 13pro compared to the M1 pro 14 inch at £500+ more?

Also do you think that they kept it to see if people still want the Touch Bar? I think a lot of this is down to how many they sell of each model and must have figures to back it up.

New Air looks great also but still fanless and less cores.

Don't see any reason to upgrade from the M1 Air. However, the form factor is pretty sweet (except to the notch), so next year's model might be worth to buy.

At this price it's competing with the base 14-inch MacBook Pro, and the latter is probably better in every regard even with the added $300 in mind.

I know you will def test this, but performance-wise, will you really notice a difference between the M1 and M2 that is worth the $200-$300 difference for the average user? A $900 verses a $1200 is a big difference in price IMO.
