I love adapalene! I’ve been using Differin pretty much every day for about a year. I can’t tolerate any active ingredient as well as that! I’ve even been able to use it around my lips when I get breakouts along my vermilion border. It took about 6 months for adapalene to clear up my acne, combined with some other topical treatments (metronidazole and topical spironolactone), but then I totally ruined my skin in June when I shaved my face to make my makeup look better at a wedding 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had shaved my face before, but for whatever reason, this time it triggered a crazy acne flare that my dermatologist and I are still trying to get on top of. The interesting thing is that because this is a potent retinoid and I’ve been able to use it daily for so long, my skin actually looks really good where I’m not breaking out.

The gel made my skin so hypersenstive, i couldnt use any other actives. Then i switched to cream and almost immediately i had no adverse effects. At one point I felt i reached the maximum adapalen 0, 1% could deliver though and I switched to tretinoin 0, 05% microgel which is amazing and the transition pretty smooth. What also helped me to clear my skin were BHA peels (12% and 20%) and azealic acid 20%.

I'm using the LP adapalene but it seems super similar to the differin one, I hope I have great results similar to you, right now I can only use it about 2 times a week, but hope to increase over time as my skin gets used to it.
