Why I dont' train like a bodybuilder anymore

If we want to be in a state of calm, centeredness, and inner peace, we need to make sure that what we do in our life also supports this state of being. I mention in the video that I don’t train like a bodybuilder anymore. This is not because the exercises are not good or effective. This is because, the mentality, my state of mind and approach towards training, was not supporting what I really wanted. To be happy, fulfilled, confident of who I was as a person.

Back then, I always saw myself as less and needing to be better. It didn’t matter how much I progress in my body, or career, how much friends I had, I never I was good enough.

The workouts that we do need to help us feel strong and healthy, and also support us in a mental state of inner peace and full acceptance of who we are at this moment now. Not a future “improved” version. But the version now that has up and downs, struggles, that has good days and bad. When we are ok with all of this, we are able to accept ourself. From there, a sense of real self love can occur.

Every young fitness youtuber eventually falls into body dysmorphia unfortunately. I'm glad you've found a healthier approach.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Six Pack Shortcuts but I love this version of Mike. He seems genuinely happy just being able to get up everyday and exercise how we want.

This is called “spiritual evolution” - moving from the obsession with the world of form to the inner world. Moving from the obvious level of how we look, to the more subtle level of how we feel. Thank you for this Mike. I also went from an insecure bodybuilder to someone who now happily pursues fitness + strength + flexibility + inner happiness

I’ve been following you since you started on YouTube, and truly your evolution is beautiful Mike. You have integrated spirituality and wholeness into your exercises and into your life. Sending eternal gratitude for your practice and wisdom.

What my man is saying is spot on. I spent 14 years pushing heavyweight and succumbing myself to injury after injury by creating too much tension, and not enough suppleness. A few years ago I started really working on fascia elasticity and three dimensional movement patterns that awakened my body to perform at such a higher level. I have fun and every single day is a day of exploration. I love this video.

My husband has been telling me about your videos for a couple of weeks. I finally did a workout with him today and I could’ve (happy) cried after! I finally found the all-in-one routine I’ve been craving. I used to be a body builder. It’s been hard for me to workout as a mom because it doesn’t fill my cup like it used to. Your workouts are what I’ve been looking for but didn’t know it. Thank you for what you do!

Absolutely love the message that you are putting out there. Developing a practice that nurtures and nourishes, not just our bodies, but our minds and hearts, is so important! Thankyou for this fantastic message. So vital and so important.

Hey Mike. I just wanted to express my gratitude for sharing your content for all these years.

You were the main channel I watched to help me get into bodybuilding, back when I started high school. Now I am 25, and since then I too have shifted from an aesthetic approach to training, to functional. Without that start, I wouldn’t have become the better man I am today.

Life is beautiful, and I am grateful to be alive with all of you here. Love and blessings 🙏🏼❤️

Absolutely. Ive trained since i was 14, and never felt healthy inside. Ive learned my lesson at the age of 65 and now i exercise and eat to feel good not to 'look' good, whatever that really means.

Holy crap, Mike! I kind of fell off the fitness wagon more or less and forgot about six pack shortcuts! I’m glad you’re doing well and have embraced your well-being, not focusing on imagery so much.
Great little video. I had to subscribe. This was like a blast from the past! Also a reminder that I’m ten years older 🤣

At 68 I hate my declining body (but still look better than many guys much younger here in small-town Indiana. There's just no competitive sense of looking good). Won't have the muscles again (not without "help" anyway) I did 30 years ago. You have a good attitude. Stay as healthy as possible, keep mobile, and enjoy the time that's left!
