Michael Clark Duncans line "Dont put me in the dark boss, I's afraid of the dark" is the moment I started almost sobbing. Such a terrific actor and a heartbreaking scene. RIP big man, you were a legend. ♥

The mom screaming “he’s alright” over and over will never stop bringing tears no matter how many times you’ve seen that movie.

I saw the movie The Green Mile before anyone else in my high school did and one day a class of mine decided to show it. Since I knew what was going to happen, I won't deny that seeing what happened to John Coffey was deeply sad to the point of tears the first time around, but seeing the second time around made me more curious how it affected the other students and sure enough, everyone except the teacher and myself were crying. I was called a heartless monster by alot of them since they noticed I didn't shed any tears until I told them I saw it already and knew what was coming.

Boromir. The movies kinda make him out to be a jerk sometimes, but in the end he sacrificed himself and took at least twenty orcs (at least the book says so) with him trying to protect the hobbits

Boromir going into beast mode to save merry and pippen gets me every time

John Coffey’s execution is by far the most devastating death in all of cinema. It was the first time and only time I have ever sobbed in a theatre, but everyone else was too.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Green Mile messed me up as a kid. And it's probably what informs my ideals to this day, for better or worse.

Jack dying lost a little bit of it’s impact when Mythbusters figured out how to save him and Rose. (Although one could argue that the situation was so chaotic, and the extreme cold meant that neither of them were in the right frame of mind to think, “Hey, let’s tie your life jacket to this door.”)

Honorable mentions:
Emma Greenway, Terms of Endearment (1983): She dies of cancer, and her last words with her children is sad.
Harry Stamper, Armageddon (1998): He gave his life to destroy an asteroid at the last minute...and he had one last word with his only daughter.
Mr. Spock, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): Even when he uses logic to sacrifice his life, it doesn't make his loss any easier. LLAP.
Sam Wheat, Ghost (1990): It was sad to see him die so early in the film, and even sadder when it finally time for him to go to heaven.
Maximus, Gladiator (2000): Claudius fatally wounds him, he clobbers the SOB to death in the ring, and dies heroically. May we see him in another life, but not yet.

Wasn’t expecting Johnny’s death from The Outsiders to be on the list, let alone the top 3. It deserves its spot for sure.

Debra Winger in Terms of Endearment and Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias are some of the toughest movie deaths I’ve seen. Real tear-jerkers!!!!

It’s been 5 years since ‘Logan’ came out and it still one of my top 8 most favorite non-MCU movies of all time.

I can’t agree more, the green mile has got more tears out of me than any movie or book or game or series ever

The death of John Coffey is the saddest deaths in cinema history and sticks with me to this day and reminds me of how ugly the world truly is.

Dumbledore’s death is even more heartbreaking when you learn that him and Snape secretly planned the entire thing all along in order to keep Harry safe

I would argue that Snape's death had way more of an impact than Dumbledore's does.

We already know how big of an impact Goose’s death had on the sequel, to the point where Rooster is unable to be friends with Maverick until the final battle.
