I gotta say, the first tune up and the first string change was a huge pain, but once u take the time to learn the system it is quite easy to work with. I last changed strings about a month and a half ago and I haven’t had to do basically any tuning since then.

My first guitar had a floyd rose. It is a pain in the ass to tune but when it finally is in tune it stays in tune really well. Havent tuned it in 4 months and its still in tune.

been playing floating floyd rose guitars for years regardless of gig or genre. locks at both ends, logically can’t go out of tune. with the right setup and right strings, i don’t have to tune it basically an entire gig. 90% of the time, all floyd rose problems are simply user error (failure to adjust the float correctly, old shitty strings, didn’t stretch the strings before locking the nut, adjusted the studs without decreasing string tension and creating burrs in the baseplate, etc). nothing will treat you better than a floyd rose. it’s simple, it’s literally just a fulcrum.

I've always preferred changing one string at a time with floating vibrato units - not just Floyds, but Strat-style, Bigsby, and Kahler.

Or just get a hardtail, which allows you to change tunings and string gauges to your heart's content.

I got a setesbar for my sg....and it does alot if you set it up as not a floating system. When set up as a down only system it locks in tune when all the way up. I can even change the tunings and its just like tuning a strat. Lol people hate on the gibson style gutars but my epipone g400 goth ltd has a graphite nut, and locking tuners so it was very well sited for a trem. The way its set up now it almost never goes out of tune ...and that includes the g string. I know floid rose now has the frx and that might be the one to go for. .it cant be put on a hardtail without drilling, everything to adjust is open in one place and easy-to-access, it can do trills and all the things floyds are famous for and it can be locked to act as a hardtail...i have not used it myself but if i can get the sets bar to be in tune with a Gibson break angel i bet i could work with the floyd frx.

thanks for the tips, tuning by titghtening the screw is a new addition to what i used to tune FR, will try it soon 🙏 i own a cort g250 with a licenced FR it pretty stable and i don't think it's always a pain in the ass if u have the time to do it, nowadays i can adjudt my FR less than an hour, maybe less than 30 minutes i guess..

I'm fine without it I stay in tune. Only time I go out of tune is if the strings are still fresh and still stretching. Other then that it's fine!

I used to have one on an Ibanez RG and I blocked it off to only dive bomb. Now I want another Floyd rose guitar to try this method
